I thought i would have got my SQA certificate for my HND through the post last week, when the exam results came out...but apparently not
no i haven't got any certificates either. i take it this is all done on a-level results day? i imagine my uni will give me a summer project to do so the sooner it all gets confirmed the bettercan't be doing with that happening while i move house!
isn't it frustrating having to rely on other people to do these things? if i'd been in charge it'd all have been sorted months ago!0 -

I'm 22, and will be 23 in January, but i would NEVER class myself as a mature student.
To me mature students are 30+
Just seems strange to me, as i've seen lots of 20 somethings on here calling themselves mature students.
Unfortunately it's 21 and over when you're classed as a mature student!0 -

Well the results in Scotland came out last week, and we gets ours in the post. So i thought i would have got mine too.
Some girls in my class got one, but theres sadi HNC on it, and we done HNC last year, and a HND this year. So i dunno whats going on. Think i'l phone up SQA tomorrow and see0 -

Same with me! I'm 23, will be 24 next May and about to start an undergraduate degree at Worcester Uni.0 -
Depending on what uni and the course (and of course yourself!), you'll be surprised how much a few extra years can make in the maturity of the class. When I started the 18 year olds of the class where more inclined to mess about / not turn up / party hard on a uni night / not do the work and still have a 'college' way of thinking. The 22+ year olds had been working for a few years or had a family or had to spend a few more years gaining the UCAS points for uni and were better at producing university level work and adapting to the university way of life and thinking.
Not saying this is the same for everyone (we had many 30+ year olds drop out in the first year becasue they couldn't do all the work to the required level) but its the way its worked out for my class. Even last year there were people who still hadn't buckled down and made the group work harder for the others.0 -
42 and starting this sept ( direct entry to yr 2 ) so not only will I be an oldie- I'll be joining an established learning group !!!!!
SF - Loans all agreed.
unconditional place .. but now asking for copy of my exam certs - from over 25 yrs ago!
Will still be working , + got a child about to start (different ) uni as well
Would have thought those of you who have just done a HND won't find it that much differentAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Wow, that must be a bit strange - starting uni at the same time as your child! Pretty cool though, hehe!

i am also a mature student about to start my second year doing an english degree and i must say i am also chomping at the bit to get back.
i have absolutely loved my first year and am already nearly half way through my reading list (lots of novels).
i work part time which has kept me through the summer but in my first year i had a night time job of about 25 hours a week. i managed this pretty well and passed my first year above average but i did put a lot of work in and ended up having a few sleepless nights so the job won't me my priorty this year.
i hope everyone else who is starting or going back this year enjoy the experience as much as me although i must admit i don't do many "studenty" things bar a few "special" nights out (christmas, halloween, end of term).

Finally its in black and white - Im officially staring uni next month and really looking forward to it! Never in a million years did I ever think I would go to uni (mature student). Hated school! Worked since I left school. But when I was made redundant went to college for 2 years and now here I am.
Anyone else looking forward to it?0
