Sorry Mercury, I meant to put in the winner for the charcoal grills but forgot!

This is from the guardian's article:-

"Best on test is the European Outdoor Chef, a kettle model with a circular grill. However, at £159 online, it's no cheaper than the gas models. The grill and warming rack won't fit in a dishwasher or bucket, so it's tricky to clean.
The cheaper Argos Deluxe Oval Trolley costs £70 It's easy to move around, but the grill is also too big for dishwasher or bucket cleaning."

Not a huge help as the majority of the article was on gas versions...

I actually purchased the Deluxe Oval Trolley (Cat No.3455580) for £30 from clearance Bargains in Walsall, which as i'm sure most are aware is part of Argos.

I don't know the answer but I always prefer the charcoal ones, just based on the fact that if I use gas BBQ, I might as well cook in the kitchen

Charcoal BBQ is at least different.

I have to agree with you on that. We were given a B&Q gas BBQ & thought it was going to be wonderful. After a couple of outings it's just become a big space filler at the back of the shed! I really do prefer our small charcoal one for both taste & ease. We used it 3 or 4 times a week all Summer. More mess to clean up, but worth it as far as I'm concerned. At least my sister is pleased as the gas one is headed in her direction!
  • No chance they'll have any more though?? Are they nationwide that clearence centre?

Clearance Bargains i believe is only based in Walsall, so only for Midlands peeps i guess. They did have plenty in stock and a few different models of BBQ's when i visited at Easter Weekend.

Wasn't intending buy one at the time, but can't pass by the bargain. Only prob is, its a bit big, so no good for the small bbq.
  • No macko round these parts, otherwise i'd have taken a look.

While we are on the subject of BBQ's does anyone know if you can use a gas BBQ with natural gas? I fancied having one plumbed in for convenience.

    Cheers, Des.

Slightly off topic - but I would ask everyone thinking of buying a patio heater to think about it. Its not nice for the environment. And thats putting it mildly.

Doesn't the same apply to a GAS BARBECUE ?????

Then again you could suspend burgers, sausages and other bits of meat on wire hooks hanging from the hood of a patio heater and you wouldn't need the barbecue !!

  • Just bought a touring caravan with an external gas point.
Anyone spotted a nice little portable gas barbie that can be zipped up in its bag? The only ones I've seen are damned heavy and pretty chunky.

Well not really as at least the gas used for a bbq is cooking something rather than the atmosphere!!!
