Unfortunately, this is only a temporary base, as I've bought another house, so I'll never know if these little wasps will cause a nuisance later in the season. I'd guess they might go for fruit when it's ripe. Going on previous form, my landlord would be too tight to employ pest control if I asked, so I've not mentioned these well established colonies. They'll be a nice surprise for him at the end of the month!

Mine aren't views. Its called being responsible and thinking of the consequences of leaving a wasp nest for other people maybe to get badly hurt rather than telling your landlord. You proclaim to care about wasps etc, but don't really seem to be that bothered about humans, I find that in itself very strange.

But I have said what I think so I will gladly leave it there....!!

You seem to have a massive bee in your bonnet about wasps (:D sorry), go away and read about them, they really are non aggressive animals. The fact that you are scared stiff of them, doesn't mean the rest of the population has to be as well.

    How rude....!

I commented that I don't think it's a responsible thing to leave a wasp nest for others to find, maybe children. Did you not see the post earlier on the thead about the lady whoose children were stung after finding a nest. I really find your views very strange indeed. The fact that you thanked Dave for his post you obviously think it's an acceptable thing to do.

Ps About your comment above. I don't read the the same newspapers as you, so wouldn't have a clue what the letters page in the sun is about.

You both seem to think its ok to ram your views down others throats, but when others make a comment there told to leave it there.

You two carry on with your personal crusade to save the wasp, I am more interested in humans to be honest, I think that makes me normal and a compassionate person. I will duck out now like everyone else has done, and let you and your friend debate the wonders of the wasp between yourselves.

My final word on this subject is this. If wasps are so wonderful why are they called pests and why do we have companys called pest control who go around killing them along with rats, cockroaches and other undesirable creatures. I often hear people say "wow I have a birds nest in my garden how wonderful", I don't think I have once heard someone say "wow I have a wasp nest, lets keep it and enjoy it"! A majority of people say "oh god I have a wasp nest how do I get rid"!! So I really think I am in the majority here.

Jules, you do have an opinion. It's about me. You think I'm irresponsible. Despite not knowing me, or the exact circumstances of the situation, you have seen fit to judge. This is common on Internet forums.

I have a few opinions about you too, but I will keep them to myself.;)

As said previously jules, it's best to ignore the insect loving loonies. I have never come across anyone in real life who would defend wasps. Normal people realise wasps are what they are; a flying, stinging nuisance belonging to the pest category.

These two are welcome to their views, but they are obviously wacko minority views which no sensible person will take any notice of.

I'm just wondering something. Have you ever sent white powder in the post to animal research labs?

Pendulum, I'm just wondering something. Have you ever helped anyone on the Greenfingered forum? Lotus-eater does this regularly, often with considerable patience. You, on the other hand, seem conspicuous by your absence.

I think others should bear that in mind too, don't you?;)

To my knowledge, this is the first time I have replied to a thread in this section of the forum. I don't think that it matters at all. Posts should be judged by their content and not by the history of the poster. Should a silly post or view go unchallenged because the poster is a "regular"?

I treat everyone the same, whether they are new or established on a forum. You two could take a lesson from me.

    ;)

So true! Laughable really hence I refuse to acknowledge any more of there nonsense!

But the fact that they seem to think its acceptable to protect the poor wasp but leave a nest for humans, maybe a child to find, speaks absolutlely volumes to me and to anyone else who reads this thread.
