I dont hate them, but I do have a very health fear of them, after a friend and I were out hunting, a long time ago, with a jar. And a wasp went up his trouser leg and stung him four or five times.........
I'm just worried in case the cats or the kids get too close....

Forget the views of the insect loving loonies
Wasps nest shouldn't be in residential areas, kill kill kill...

Putting water on them will just make them angry

You'll need proper stuff to get rid of them, best thing is to get a pest controller out, should be no more than £45 and he'll use the proper stuff and equipment

You could hang some jars of beer or sugar water in the branches of the tree to entice the wasps to drown themselves, it wont get them all but should reduce the numbers so that their impact on the fruit is not so great.

Wasps nests are a problem to be tackled by experts with the right equipment and preferably in the spring before they get the chance to swarm.

Please be careful if you are going to tackle a wasps nest yourself. My toddler son disturbed a nest in a public park last year, and they swarmed us. My two sons were both stung a couple of times, but I had literally dozens of stings and was in agony for days afterwards.

    They are evil evil creatures!!

Shame to hate something like that, they are being themselves, annoying sometimes yes, but do they really deserve hate?

Understandable and I wouldn't say otherwise, but, you will have wasps in the garden anyway (which was what I was trying to say), nest or not, you will still have the wasps. No matter what stinging insect you have that flies up your trouser leg, you are going to get stung a few times. Makes sense.

Well, well, well, what to say about this, this person obviously loves life in all it's inconsistencies, I'm prepared to give this person as good a deal, as his or her past posts deserve, I think everyone should take a good look at them and then decide.

No they are not  they are wasps that are following their natural instinct, just as you would be if you were defending your offspring. You got stung and I am sorry about that, but it does happen, this is real life, these things do occur, we have a ecosystem, y'know, that thing that makes the whole world work? Without it, we would all be dead...... y'know, me, you, your kids, the pigs in the field down the road, everybody, everybody........ everybody......needs somebody to love....someone to love............. ahh it's lost on you lot :D

HATE, is a stupid word for a creature that has no meaning of the word, it simply is.

Yes!! I have a phobia of them so think hating this is justified as they terrify me. Some people hate spiders because they are scared of them.

Ps I came on this forum for advice on gardening, not to be told what I can and can't hate. You have your views, we have ours please respect them rather than trying to change them.
Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T

Lotus-eater: I'm happy with my previous posts on here. I can't think what posessed you to read through them though. That's really odd! But then, I guess being a pro-life campaigner for wasps is a bit odd too.

I'm just wondering something. Have you ever sent white powder in the post to animal research labs?
