At least you know what you're getting yourself into! :D

Does the training include humanities training or is it just citizenship.

  • Mainly Citizenship but been told to expect to have to teach RE and History depending on the school as alot of a schools are hiring teachers who cover at least 2 of the subjects, think we do some of the training together  Although some of the bigger inner city schools have separate Citizenship departments, not sure if i fancy working working in a HUGE school though

I am totally fascinated by biology and have been since I was a kid and a lodger taught me the names for the internal organs! I've studied pharmacy, microbiology, genetics and now fitness. I would definitely say I am the eternal student ... did you take a biology degree or a branch subject?

I think it can be quite good teaching more than 1 subject as it makes things more varied. I taught a little bit of IT one year and enjoyed the change and challenge!
I'm not too sure about a huge school either!

You sound a bit like me. My degree was more biochemistry/ molecular cell biology so I've studied many of the aspects you have. I was tempted to study fitness too- if I had the energy I would ;)

I've bought a couple of books and petrol but that's about it so far this month. OH has been getting groceries so I'll be playing catch up later in the month. At least being ill has got me back on track with my spending. I really want to knock some of the debt straight back off this month.

Haven't had many viewings on my house so I'm worrying a bit about that.

It's a quiet time in the housing market  the only way to get lots of interest is to make it really cheap compared to the competition but I'm sure you can't afford that.

It will be a tough call- the longer it is on the market the longer we are basically paying to keep 2 houses running when we'd happily live in 1 now. I might have to drop a bit but this is so quiet it is dead! It's probably a first time buy sort of property and maybe they just can't afford to buy!
Better go and check how much I can afford to chuck at my debts.

    Hi Jellie
Hope you are feeling better now.
Don't be too disheartened re your house yet - it's still early days and things are picking up a bit, well they are up here anyway.
Thanks for the advice re e-books - OH is a convert - he's loving reading them on the laptop! Seems strange to me to be reading a book on anything other than a book!
