Even if I do still end up with a 1Mb/s download, at least I will only be paying £3.16pm for it with O2, instead of the £20pm I have been paying BT.
Thanks for all the help.
Precisely! No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Does anyone know where I can get a cheap O2 PAYG mobile please?
I've tried Tesco at Lakeside, Argos and carphone warehouse, but they don't have any cheap PAYGs.
thanks0 -
Not sure why you wish to move away from Be, I've been with them for several years now and find them very reliable with downtime being very very rare.
My router currently reports:
DownStream Connection Speed 15454 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 1698 kbps
I value the superb service I get from Be (I work from home so it's essential) and wouldn't even consider swapping.
Edit: I should add that Be have no bandwidth restrictions or traffic shaping, I'm fairly sure that O2 do.......yet:cool:It appears that Quidco cannot be used on a migration from Be to o2, because such a migration is done by phone rather than online, as they are both owned by the same company.
www.samknows.com gives lot of info about your exchange and in particular tells you what LLU operators are available on it.
I don't understand your comment about mobile broadband, you can join whatever mobile broadband you like, as this is not anything to do with landline broadband, you can get it whether you are with BT or O2. Mobile broadband works over the mobile phone network, nothing to do with landline broadband.
Are you perhaps referring to wireless broadband? This just means that you have a wireless link between your router and your PC/laptop. This option is available with all the O2 broadband services, as the O2 box can be used in wireless or wired mode.
Thankyou Feani, Woby_Tide and macman for your replies
I understand that Be offer a very good service and I have never had any problems. However, I'm looking to save money from my outgoings and possibly make some (in the form of quidco) and was looking at this as a means of possibly doing it.
To be honest, I don't really understand what bandwidth restrictions or traffice shaping is, but I guess I want to avoid them?
The mobile broadband I am looking for is to enable me to use my laptop to access the internet whilst not at home, most likely when visiting family (who refuse to get broadband ) So from your comment, I am thinking I can get mobile broadband with any provider and it doesn't have to be the same as my home broadband supplier?Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Hi,
I was disconnected by o2 b/band last month because BT lie was ceased.
I spoke to o2 but they say I have to wait 6 months. Can't.
Whats the comparable cheapest deal or who should I speak to at o2 that they reconnect me.

O2 cannot reconnect your landline. You need a working BT line to get O2 broadband. O2 do not offer any landline line rental or call package facilities. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

If you have a working BT line then you can have o2 broadband on it, subject to the usual line checks. What makes you think you have to wait for 6 months? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If you are switching from Be to save money then consider this: If you are an existing O2 Customer then you can get O2 Standard (8 Megs) Broadband for £7.34 or O2 Premium (20 Megs) Broadband for £9.79 which is tremendous value. You also get the first two months free at the moment.
If you aren't an O2 customer and want mobile broadband as well then buy this first from O2 thus making you an O2 customer and elegible for the above rates. You might also consider one of the 'get a free laptop if you signup for mobile broadband' offers from O2 - get a laptop, mobile broadband and 20meg broadband for under a tenner plus the monthly cost of the mobile broadband
.
I'm tempted myself but I'll stick with Be.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my marbles the most.0 -
