Hi all,
Is lovely and sunny outside and am off for coffee in an hour so wearing:
Khaki/green Linea knee length skirt - £2.99 charity shop
Black vest - £7.99 New Look
Black Jigsaw Suit Jacket - £30 Ebay
Black Mary Janes - £44.99 Clarks
Silver bracelet, black watch - Presents.
I'm going to meet an old boss of mine in Newcastle so I need to be smart/casual......
Some really nice summer ideas here today. Really like this thread :-)I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
Cant say I have found Exeters charity shops to be that great, maybe I need to look harder and have more patience!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0

I nipped into town at lunch, managed to avoid the grockles, and picked up a pale blue Kipling bag and a black & white linen maxi dress for the sum of £13

Also picked up a Zara coat last Friday, which sadly I decided was too "skimpy" to go round me if wearing any more than jeans & T-shirt despite it fitting in the BHF shop
 so that will be Ebayed. Really need to get my head round Zara sizing! 0 -
loving our orange-shoe wearing chap braving the waves of criticism to join us! :T
Well, thankee.
To be honest, I don't listen too much to what people say about what I (or anyone else) wear. Men's clothing can be so uniform and boring (although lots of it isn't) that I've always sort of followed my own star with it really. Besides, I don't really get much criticism 'cos I rock, most of the time!
Tell you what, I'll wear the orange shoes, either tomorrow or one day next week. That way they'll be 'official'."I'm not a one-trick pony. I'm not a ten-trick pony. I'm a whole field of ponies - and they're all literally running towards this job."

Good for you. I'll be honest, DH finds it hard dressing in a way he likes at work ATM. He's feeling a bit staid and we're both feeling unimaginative about it.0 -

I'm lucky in that I'm allowed to wear whatever I like for work. Is your DH obliged to wear suit and tie, or smart trousers and shirt?
My OH and I have found Ted Baker to be brilliant for 'smart with a twist' stuff. Their shirts fit really well and they're extremely well made - he's got one which is about five years old, and when it's ironed up it still looks new. So although they're not cheap (£60+ for a shirt unless you can pick one up in the sales) they are good value.
I've also got a couple of Duchamp shirts which I wear if I'm presenting to clients. They are certainly not cheap (£120) but they are utterly, utterly fabulous and again, fantastically well made."I'm not a one-trick pony. I'm not a ten-trick pony. I'm a whole field of ponies - and they're all literally running towards this job."

I'm a copywriter for a marketing agency. Hence being able to hoofle* about on the internet during the day.

Actually, he finds it ''easier'' in shirts and ties, because within the boudaries there is more scope for fun with shirts/ties/cuflinks etc. His office is ''business casual'' in the City. Which most people translate as chinos.
DH is not a chino wearer. Winter is ok: shirts/jumpers/jackets, cords. Boring but....room for colour. Summer is the time style forgot. Rules are essentially no denim, and generally a shirt withe a collar (i.e not t shirts) DH says rollnecks are seen by most of his colleagues as quite ''daring'':o. The other week I noticed he'd gone from being quite stylish to, well, clean and neat. I think he's feeling a bit low about it, but doesn't know what to do: and really, there is so much pressure in the working enironment ATM clean and neat might just be enough to cope with.
I think in winter he's going to grow his curly hair a bit: he suddenly realise he has a non-descript barber cut and looks ''like a dad'' and so maybe that will help.
The difficulty is its a sort of ''extra'' wardrobe. he still needs the suits and gubbings for them, and at the weekend he'd not wear his chino equivalents. He needs a boost, no doubt about it. Its much harder for men, though, isn't it?
I find it very hard to shop for him, but he has no time to himself really. Spending on his work wardrobe IS an investment: we wouldn't scrimp, its just a bit of.....joy and personality needed back in his life without crossing the boundary too much.

How very bizarre. I'm a copywriter for an advertising agency! I suspected you were the creative type! Well hello, fellow copywriter. Nice to meet you.
... And you're someone who understands the ability to hoofle (great word) about on the internet during the day, too! I got lambasted by someone on here for doing just that during my working hours.0
