Oooh congrats for getting your date sorted rainbow drops!

Hope your move went well too Clare - guess be a lot easier to be sorting things now you are based closer to your venue! =)

Rachel, cant imagine how hard this must be for you, but it sounds like your dad and sister will be pitching in to help you out though!!
My dad died when i was 7 but i am still finding it hard with the wedding, moving, etc.
You should look into doing something on the day that will be a little tribute to your mum. I am getting a boquet charm to tie to my flowers with a picture of my dad in it.
Maybe you could do something - wear a piece of her jewlery perhaps, or incorperate her favourte flowers/music etc?

Bit of an update with my plans - I have brought all the flowers from dunelm mill for the bridesmaids and arranged one as a practice and it looks nice, so they are taken care of. We have brought all the bits for our invitations - The Range, ebay, Papermill sorted all of that! would really recomend papermill for the card. Not the cheapest place to get packs of cards and envelopes ready folded but you can fill a box of coloured card for £4.99...can fit a lot in there too!
Also got some kiln jars from £1land to start our sweet buffet off which is good!

You guys may be able to offer som help though - OH wants the sweet buffet to have adisney theme and each chocolate/sweet be linked to a film...!! :rotfl:
    We have a few ideas;
    sour apples - snow white,
    haribo crocodiles/skulls - peter pan
    traffic light lollies - Cars
coconut mushrooms/black jacks - alice in wonderland
    jelly snakes - jungle book

but wondered whether you could think of any others?

sorry for the long post! lol. hope everyone is doing well!
:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

Our little princess born 8th June - she is amazing!! :grinheart

    Evening everyone

Bringing up an "old" thread as today we finally decided we were getting married in June 2011

I can't believe that we have actually set a date!

We've been engaged for 27 months now and I never thought we would get round to setting a date as something else has always come up!

Having a bit of a logistics nightmare though, as my family is from the North East and I live with OH and his family in the midlands

Will be popping back in now and again to keep up with the rest of you lovely ladies (and maybe men) to see what you've been getting up to and filling you in on what we've done!

    Woo, welcome to June 2011!
We've only booked the venue so far (this includes ceremony, reception, food & drink though).

We've got a provisional booking with the registrar, which will be confirmed once we go to the local council next month to give notice of marriage.

What wedding planners are you ladies using? I really want one but have no idea where to find them. Had a look in Waterstones and WHSmiths but no joy so far :( It would be nice to keep track of everything in one place.

I'm June 2010 but having a nose here and remembering what the far-off excitement was like. :)

I've used this and it's been brilliant -was an engagement present and now I give it to any friends who get engaged!

Has four sections separated by dividers - Inspiration, Planning, Guests and The Big Day. Has space to write/do everything you need. The guests bit is great - it's pages like an address book with name, address, number in party, RSVP, what gift they sent, whether you've sent a thank you card. Would be lost without it. :)

    Hi,

Me and oh have decided on Friday 3rd June 2011, so can we join in the gang please?!

Got engaged on my 30th birthday last month (in the front room, he was going to ask me in Venice but the volcano scuppered that plan - but thats a whole other story) and looking at all your threads I'm worried we are being a bit silly and looking too early. 12 months to go and we havent done anything, lol. Well actually, we have picked a date, so thats a start. We have two venues provisionally pencilled in so have to make our mind up next week, I've picked my bridesmaids and I know I am getting a campervan to get me the registry office and thats about it. Better get a move on!

TamVilla, don't think you're doing things too early. I have been reading other peoples threads that are getting married after me and they seem so in order with more sorted than I have!!!

Welcome though! You seem to have done as much as I have, although I've already booked the registry office and going to give notice in July :)

Thanks Nunnygirl. I've been reading entries by people getting married in 2012 / 2013 that seem like they have planned everything already! Might phone the registry office and confirm the time (I've already emailed them and they can fit us in that day) then we will have to start booking things. Is there like an official timescale that you should work to? When do you send invites out? Is there a 'idiots guide to weddings' that I can buy? Haha

If there was I'd like to buy it too!!

No official timescale as such, but there is THIS which has been helping me a little bit!

You can do the "Save The Day" thing and send out little cards to let everyone know when the wedding is going to be, then invites. I would say 2-3 months before to give everyone chance to book time off work etc
