  • Hello everyone!

Im a June bride too :j its Soooo exciting!
Wedding date is 4th June 2011. Venue and registrar are booked, photography is being done by a family friend.

Dress shopping is so fun! I organised a day of it and took along three of my four bridesmaids and mum and mum in law, it was a great day and i may have found THE dress! Its a little bit more than i wanted to pay, but i dont think i will find one i like more. However im giving myself a bit of time to think about it and to ring around to see if i can get the price down a bit in true money saving style, lol :D

Its amazing how much there is to think about! My mum in law bought me a wedding planner journal and im so grateful for it, otherwise i wouldn't of had a clue where to start.

I really like your idea for 'save the dates' as magnets, i may use that, its a fab idea :) x

Hi to all the new ladies! Hope your planning is going well!

We have finally decided on a theme for the wedding after much umming and ahhing over colours schemes etc. We are having a picnic theme :D

H2B, Best man and ushers are all chefs so they will spend the day before the wedding preparing hampers of luxury homemade picnic food. Cooked meats, pates, chutneys, tarts etc. Since we can't rely on good weather we are planning on eating indoors at the venue but are hoping it will be nice enough to spend lots of time out in the grounds too.

We're having one big hamper on each table (so between 6 people) pitchers of pimms and having gingham table cloths, bunting, jugs of mixed flowers dotted around. Outside hopefully some giant garden games too as we just want a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
  • welcome to smudge. our photography is also being doing by a family friend. i bought a wedding planner and it is dead good, a very good buy. i'm going to be taking my bridesmaids out soon too to do a dress fitting. Have had 2 already and not found what i really want, so hopefully i will find what i like soon!!

Sparklylime - love the picnic idea. that used to be my favourite thing in essex in the summer - to go out on a hot day with a picnic. Not sure how many picnics we'll get to have in scotland!!

Ooohh picnic sounds good! i read that before somewhere about having a hamper on each table with all the goodies in for people to help them selves. sounds like a lovely idea! :o)

we have just paid deposit on the rugby club, and the guy was really nice and said we can email or call any time with any questions we have - so i know for a fact, i will have a list of things to ask by the end of this evening! lol.
    :o)
we have decided we are going to have a photo corner though, where can have props etc to have pictures taken of our guests and something fun to do.
I am waiting for some information back from few places found online that do ice cream vans - but they are really slow getting back to me!! Dont suppose any of you other essex ladies that know of anywhere do you?!

We are also thinking about having some sort of quiz going on - OH wants the questions to be read out, i thinking more hainvg them on sheets paper so people can answer through out the afternoon etc. May then come up with a prize of some sorts, lol.
its so exciting, feel like have ages to go yet, but want to do everything now!!! lol.

    hope you are all well!"

What wedding planners are you ladies using? I really want one but have no idea where to find them. Had a look in Waterstones and WHSmiths but no joy so far :( It would be nice to keep track of everything in one place.

Love the sound of the photo corner. We would really like a photo booth but I think they'll be too expensive so we're looking at doing some kind of DIY version.

We are DIY'n the photo corner - will look to get something to have some material draped on so there is a back drop - there is a thread on here about it, and a great website (sorry cant remember the name atm) but has some ideas about it all.
we will collect some props etc as we go - thinking may have to get fairy tale things to keep with the disney theme too - maybe an apple, a sword and shield etc.

I dont have a proper wedding planner - love having books with lists in, lol.
I brought a file from sainsburys in the sale - "leather" bound and ring binder in it with pockets on the inside etc. its really good. I brought a load of dividers and have sectioned it up - then when there are other things i realise i need to cover i am adding to it. I did look at the proper organisers, but there were things in them that i wouldnt be using etc.
If you cant find one you like, then maybe you should get nice folder and do your own - take some of the sections from the ready made ones.
I have this, a notepad i have day to day for scribbled notes, then a friend brougt me a little book to keep as a memory book of the day.

    Hope that helps!

We are June 2011 as well, getting married on 24th June at the Registry Office to get the legal bit done, we will be having a wedding blessing and reception on the Saturday at a local farm.

We are excited but tinged with sadness as my Mum passed away in February suddenly and unexpectedly. We only got engaged at Xmas after 10 years together, and not having my Mum by my side helping me breaks my heart. Bless him, my Dad will be coming with my Sister and I to pick my wedding dress.

Hope we can all be a support to each other over the next 13 months!

  • Welcome Rachel(Blade26),

so nice to hear your getting married, but such sad news about your mum. brought a tear to my eye. really dont know what i'd do without mine. is bad enough living down in essex when shes up in scotland (although i've only got one week till i move back up there)
really hope your sister and dad and you can all be there to support each other. And all the ladies will be here to support you on june 2011 brides!

wow 13 months, is that all we've got, oh no. i keep thinking i've got loads of time. i must start getting on with my crafts, i'm currently trying to sell stuff on ebay, to fund all the things for my crafts for the wedding!!
