Hi all,
Awwwwwww, thank for those lovely messages, you've all really cheered me up and given me a smile:p
I was feeling really carp yesterday and Friday....not so much 'unwell' as miserable:o
Friday was just one rubbish day....My hospital appointment was a waste of time - I was plonked in a little treatment room, not even a doctor's office and a few minutes later a doctor appeared. Not the one on my letter, not the one whose name was on the appointment board, no, a young Spanish/Italian lady. All she did was briefly tell me what the op entailed.....which I knew:rolleyes: This took a few mintues, then she rushed off, a nurse came in and told me to go to Surgical Admissions. I filled in a medical history form....and was told they couldn't do the pre op assessment there and then as I was booked in for over 4 days. If you're bvooked in for less, then the check is done then
So, that was it:mad: I had asked the doc when the op would be - she wouldn't say, gave no idea, saying that they'd had loads of cancellations due to the weather. She did say to ring the Surgical Admissions in a week, they might have some idea. I was told by them I should hear in about a week about the pre op assessment too. SO I left there feeling like I could scream:mad:
Anyway, on my way home, I thought I'd stop at the doctors and ask for a new sick note. When I walked back to my car from the surgery, I just saw the exhaust of my car drop down, with a clunk:rolleyes: I just sat in the car and burst into tears!!! And typically, my RAC membership had expired; I'd been meaning to go with AA, as it was only £28 plus £21 Quidco cashback....but I'd not got round to it. SO had to renew with RAC iver the phone....£50:mad: The chap did come in 35mins, tied up my exhaust and let me follow him to a garage (which was shut:rolleyes:). So I came home....he said car's ok to drive, just not far. Will ring that garage tomorrow and hopefully they'll do it asap.
So - there's why I felt soooooo grumpy;) I'm now trying not eating too much, just light, low fibre meals.....and I don't feel too bad. Still painful, but I thought that if there's less food to digest it might mean less pain in my bowel...who knows....I don't get any advice from the hospital on food, nutrition or other ideas to help, so it's down to me. Feel rather isolated sometimes, like I'm on my own with this.
Girls have been with their dad since Friday evening, which is good for them - they get good meals and some entertainment that I can't provide:rolleyes: They're back this afternoon and DD2 is off to the panto with Guides.
Moneywise.....Fri wasn't an NSD, what with £50 to RAC, bus fare to hospital and a mag there. £92:eek: to girls gym club (up to Easter), but that came from the club money account (which is now empty).
Yesterday I bought some stuff from M+S - 2 pairs of PJs for me, figured I'd need them for hispital as the ones i wear at home really aren't fit to be seen in public in:D, 2 school jumpers for DD2 (£5 each, bargain - better than £9 school sweatshirts), a school skirt for DD2 (£4.50) as the one she has is age 7....she's nearly 11, it's teeny!! And some undies for my niece at £10, which my sis will pay me for. I had free delivery and used a 12.5% off code, so £6 odd off...and £2 tracked on Quidco....not bad. Oh and I spent £4.60 on ebay on bubble wrap and postage bags.
Asked ex to bring bread, rolls, ham and milk in for me today as I don't want to go out in the car unless i have to....hopefully he'll pay...he owes me anyway:p Tomorrow I'll need to hopefully take the car in and need to pick up my sick note. Also have a few parcles to post. Sold some jewellery last night at £5 and a book on AMazon today, which will only make me about £2, if that, but it all helps.
Again - thank you to you all for the kind messages....was having a feel-sorry-for-myself moment.....I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

QUOTE]:p:p So that's where you're wrong milly! I love reading your diary and that's why you've got so many hits.
I think that, however enjoyable at the time, after Christmas/New Year everyone wants to get back to 'normal'. Unfortunately for you what with being off work and the snow your 'normal' has been disrupted. I also expect you're feeling frustrated that you've got the time but can't get on with university work. You'll feel better when your health improves and you can achieve things. I think you're so used to being organised and achieving great things with your budget and being a great mum/homemaker and your job that you've pushed the bar higher and you're fed up with yourself because you aren't able to do more at the moment.
Take care of you and get yourself well and if you can manage a bit of reading then fine. If you can't then you soon will.
You are very right Maman - I am fed up with myself for not feeling up to doing everything....I hate seeing the house not spotless and the pile of Uni books seems to be glaring at me all the time:rotfl:
Normal would be lovely, just feeling able to do day to day stuff....I don't know from day to day how I'll feel which is very frustrating! Then if I do have a good day, I feel guilty that I haven't done loads.....:o
Thank you:AI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hey Milly we all have 'sorry for ourselves' days but you have genuine reason to feel like that, illness really takes it out of us emotionally as well as physically as it can be so frustrating.
Have you thought about posting on the Health Board for tips about food etc for your condition? They can't give medical advice but you don't need that anyway as the op will be happening eventually but you might get some tips for managing and if other post their experiences you might not feel so alone maybe?
You are doing really well with the money making, I am absolutley cringing I have been so rubbish but I have vowed that 2 large items that are cluttering my house WILL be on Ebay by the end of the day...I will update on here later so that I will feel ashamed if I don't come back and show I've done it.
Shame about the car but you know what as much as its a nightmare when you are stuck somewhere and its a shame about the money but luckily you have worked hard with the extra money making so at least that covers it and when I have a day like that I always balance it (after the initial screaming etc) that we are all safe and thats all that matters, so onwards.
Take care x0 -

Thank you KM...another lovely post:A
Have you got your things on ebay?!!:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Just added a bit to my £5 a day total as some Paypal money arrived in my account. Am sat listing on ebay with the laptop, watching Dancing on Ice. It's so slow listing via the ebay site as opposed to Turbolister though....but easier with the tv here:rolleyes:
I had a leaflet in a mag this week, Dell laptops....£329 until Wed. 3gb memory, 320gb hard drive, 15month security, celeron dual core processor...that's £180 savings. The girls want laptops for their birthdays...I have this Dell and it is fab....am just debating whether to order them now. I can't find anything else around with that spec for that price. Anyone any more knowledgeable than me? (wouldn't be hard!!)
They are paying £100 each too, bless them, they've got it saved in the bank each already. At nearly 13 and 11, with almost all their friends having laptops, it seems time for me to get them one. Hmmmmmmm
Ok, back to ebay........yawn yawnI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

(I have the same Dell as you and he said it was good for the price!)0 -
Ebay listings done :j :T
I'm chuffed because I have been sooo procrastinating (read lazy) about this.
Milly I have a Dell too but I'm no expert so would not like to advise but I always post on the Techie Board for opinions and then base my decision aroung the posts on there.
You are on a roll with ebay this month, throw some motivation my way please0 -
Don't forget Quidco if you buy the Dell laptops by the way.0

Oooooh fab f_f....here's the link. They are £349 if you go straight to the site, but i had a leaflet out of Closer mag saying they're £329...looked closer and found a code you have to enter.....
I love my purple laptop...it's so fast, and so purple;) Just haven't seen anything quite so good I don't think, for £329. They'll onle want the laptops for internet, maybe put their music on, word processing...no gaming.
Thank you lovely Mr_F:D

At home...still. Picked up my new sick note and she's done it for 2weeks:o I want to go back next week though, but work said I *should* stay off as the doc says I'm not fit to go back yet...grrrr, will see how I get on. I do feel a bit better today, pain's a lot less....fingers crossed it stays away.
Just done the postage for a pile of parcels....8:eek: Will drop them in at PO later...saves waiting there while they do them, doing them online. They can just stamp my cert of posting.
Had a statement from my cash ISA (the £1000 I withdrew and paid off the loan) - I earned £19 interest last year, so I've withdrawn that - will add it to my £5 a day when it arrives in my account! Couple of bits on ebay ending tonight - one is on £20 with 4 hours to go....very, very pleased with that:j
Spent £14 in the co-op earlier...I think that's all the shopping we'll need this week...so have taken that from the new grocery account...£103 left in there:D I' still debating on doing an online shop for delivery at the end of the week - or maube start of next week...but I cant decide. Also the fact that no vouchers were working for me put me off;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0
