GPs don't always know how to handle autism.asbestos2008 wrote: »Yes we did try it, he wont take any meds even calpol, the last lot of antibiotics he took was an injection given after they sedated him. That was a last resort after trying every known way to give it him. Even if it is syringed into his mouth it comes back out. The Dr didnt believe us until he tried to give him a dose!!I tried hiding the tablet form in his food and he knows its there, dont ask me how.
We begged his pead to help. His response was some kids dont need much sleep!!
Although the PS may calm your son it is actually over stimulating his brain.
You should get in contact with the National Autistic Society who can give you good info.
Social stories are a good tool in teaching children with ASD how they should behave etc.
Children with ASD often have over sensitive senses so this is why he can taste his medication in his meals. You should see if you can get tasteless meds if possible, as this is a problem for him.0 -

That's exactly what I was thinking!
Studies have shown time and again that computer games stimulate children.
And, if he is used to going to his bedroom at 7pm but not sleeping until 2-3am, and is used to filling that time with electronic items, I'm not surprised he became stressed when you stripped his room of the lot!
Can you maybe withdraw them one at a time, over a period of a few months?
Also, I realise many believe they cannot alter how autistic children behave and give in to it as they cannot cope with the alternative, but looking at it that way will lead to bigger problems later on. Yes it will be limited but please don't give in to his every whim because you can change some of his behaviours with the right support.
If he gets to puberty, or even adulthood, thinking he can do whatever he likes (because he is autistic), you are in for a very rocky ride! I work with adults and you can very easily spot the ones where families have given in to them - and they confirm this if asked.
But anyway, we are going OT and I know you didn't want a discussion about your son...

Although it looks as if it is primarily AA that could be targeted I think it would have to be DLA for over 65s as well. Committed as they are to 'equality' it would be odd for the government to give one 65 year old cash to help with care needs but not another, simply because of date of application.0

Hi
I have set up a group page on facebook to highlight the government plans to abolish DLA and AA
I cannot put the link on here as i am a newbie so please message me
The more people that know about this will hopefully thwart the goverments plans0 -

Internet access is not essential so should come out of other income.
I'd like to know how you work that one out! Without internet access there was a time in my life whereby I would simply have perished and died as I would have been unable to obtain supplies of anything, including food!!!
The internet does not exclusively provide chat forums you know!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

....before shouting the odds at me you may see that I actually backtracked my thoughts on internet connections when someone explained reasonably why it is important. Though I still stand by comments onthe PS3.
If you are shouting down other people's opinions and being too emotive then you are not going to get anywhere in your campaign!0 -

I was simply responding to the post as I read it, I have not yet got to the end of thread. I also never mentioned anything about PS3's.
