    Thanks Lady_K :)
I think i will phone them up tomorrow as looking at the eaga website it says
If the property has previously received any measures under Warm Front, the value of the grant available to the existing householder under Warm Front will be the balance of £2,700 or £4,000 if oil central heating is involved, less the value of all works previously completed in the property under Warm Front since June 2000.

So i should still at least get a decent amount knocked off the £2700

We qualify for the full oil central heating grant and had the engineer round about 6 wks ago to look at the work.I was surprised when he said that Kershaws take 30% of the grant to handle the allocation, and disturbed when he said that we would have to pay to remove any excavated material from the site as it's not covered by the grant. Has anyone on this site had a full oil installation??and what choices do you get with types of boiler/radiators etc.
And do you really have to pay to have the left over stuff removed??;) Surely the grant should cover that?
And with the amount of time Kershaws have taken to "do the paperwork"they don't seem very efficient.

Well I used just about all of the £2700 grant so does that mean that Kershaws get what works out to be about £810 just for paperwork?

That makes me even more angry

I havent heard anything from warmfront since the troubleshooter guy came to fix things after kershaws I was told the inspector would do a revisit but I've heard nothing anyway. Cant really tell how its effected the heating as I've not been using it
    Thanx

I wouldn't expect them to do all the organising for free:D ,and I sincerely hope that my engineer was wrong with the 30%,but i'm going to try my hardest to find out --it's not as if they are fast and efficient,is it:rolleyes: ?
The more they take ,the less we get:mad:

I don't know about 'paying to have the left-over stuff removed'. We certainly didn't pay to have anything removed, and the guys who did ours took the existing water tank and hot water cylinder away with them. We couldn't be more pleased with the standard of work done.

    Hi all

Thought Id post on here details of my application to warm front.

I applied end of February this year and they are coming to install my central heating week after next which is pretty good going, also had my loft insulated 2 weeks ago.

Does anyone know what happens to the current immersion heater for the hot water, ie, can it be taken away or does it need to stay where it is as I would like to get rid of it as in an awkward place.
(I wasnt here when the surveyor came out, my mum was, although she seemed to think that they would remove it)

    Cheers

    Hi Margaret

I just read that you had the water tank taken away, did you have gas central heating installed and is the boiler the only thing that is needed to run everything as someone mentioned to me that they thought you still needed the immersion heater to run the water

    Thanks

they are getting ready to replace my boiler (old style hot water tank) with a combi. i had to ask for a combi as they wanted to keep it as a hot water tank system :(
    can anyone tell me,
    1. they said they would run pipes down my walls for heaters, does this mean they will leave them exposed int he middle of the wall or will they come down beside the door and along the floorboard or something? (anyone had it done already)
    2. after the 2700 grant i need to pay just over 500 quid. thats fine, but in the letter eaga sent me they said i should contact my local authority to find out if i can get any advice or help with paying my bit. does that mean that my LA might help with the 500quid. otherwise its going to be another couple of months before i can pay it, and i have no heating or hot water atm so if someone else can help that would be good but i am scared to ask.

    thanks

No, we've never had an immersion-heater here at all! There has been a gas boiler in this house for many years. Before this recent upgrade/new boiler, we had a tank in the loft which stored hot water. As we don't use that much hot water, we were paying good money for a tankfull of hot water to be kept up there 24/7 at 40 degrees! It was just going round the radiators which are a closed system, and the only other water we used was showers for both of us every morning, washing machine twice a week, and washing-up. Not a lot!

We've now got the most modern condensing combi boiler which heats water as required, no storage tank needed, and it works a treat! The only thing we have to remember is, don't turn on a tap or flush the loo when someone is trying to have a shower, otherwise the shower suddenly goes cold!!! (Could cause heart failure in us wrinklies)

    Best wishes

    Margaret
