  • Hello there

I've never been here before but i'm desperately trying to get some help.

I'm struggling with work done for us by a company on behalf of warmfront.
This work was faulty and caused the ceiling in my daughters bedroom to start falling down.
An engineer came to have a look, he fixed the problem but still the work had to be done to repair the ceiling.
We were told countless times that the work would be done but we were continuously strung along.
In the end it was agreed that so that my daughters could use the room, we would arrange for the work to be done and we would be re-imbursed by the company (HES Ltd)
Since then i am just appaled by the treatment we have received, we have been ignored, strung along and lied to. Rather than just pay us the money.

I'm now at a complete loss as to what to do, liability was admitted and now tonight they have decided that infact it wasn't their problem.
It's obvious what they are doing, they will go to any lengths to just not pay us and i don't know what to do.

This money to them is nothing £400 but to us, it was paid for out of my sons dissabilty money, i don't have cash like that to just loose and i'm terrified they have got away with this.

If anyone could please advise me of someone i could contact, or what to do i'd be so gratefull.

Have you got proof that they told you to get the work done and they would reimburse you?
    Thanx

If you look a few posts earlier on this thread on Rebob's post he had some suggestions for any problems people might be having that arent getting sorted by warmfront. Get on the phone to all the people he names like Consumer Rights, Trading Standards, local councillor, etc

Ring warmfront ask to speak to someone in a high position and also put it in writing to them its terrible that youve been left like that :( Maybe you should tell them your going to contact your councilor aswell. If they don't do anything you could go to the radio stations or newspapers might sound a bit drastic but they arent doing the job right, any of them

Why did the ceiling fall down did you have a leak?
    Thanx

  • All we have is their word that they would re-imburse us.

We have spoken to someone from warmfront though who also was told that this company would re-imburse us so i'm praying she will back us up.

The work had been slowly dripping over 9 months, it had gone un-noticed by us until the ceiling started to bow.
Someone came to take a look, tightened the leak and went off on his way saying that they would arrange for the ceiling to be taken down and a new one put up.
    That's where the fun started!!

It's got to the point now that rather than get this money back i want to make life miserable for the people who have continuously lied to us.
I am so gobsmacked at how morally wrong these people are.

Before we did this work i spoke to a man called **** ******* and told him that i would have to use my sons disability money, he has chronic lung disease, i told him that i really needed this money back and that i simply cannot afford it.

These men make me feel sick, we sent an invoice for the work, we were told it hadn't arrived. We sent another (all recorded delivery and signed for ) that too disapeared.
We sent a third but no longer will they answer our calls, if we ring we're told that they are in a meeting.
These people have strung us along for months they really are the lowest of the low.

We finally managed to get a direct number today and spoke to a man called andre, he has now decided that after looking at the information he has that they were not at fault, and so they will not pay us.

Liability has been admitted! and if it wasn't then why on earth were they going to do the work? why weren't we told when the engineer visited? and surely we'd of been billed for that?
Why have they been fobbing us off, lying to us and ignoring us?

They are guilty as hell and just don't want to pay.

How do i go about finding phone numbers and addresses for the people i need to contact?
I'm useless at this, i've never complained in my life but i'm so hurt by the way we've been treated.

    Any help is gratefully received.

  • Please does anyone know if I can get any kind of grant help to replace a water cylinder and motorised unit and pump that are entirely unlagged? I was told warm front did such work but although they assessed what was needed and sent a company called Dawsetway to assess the work needed, five months have passed and they sent Dawsetway again (who were not even polite enough to tell me they would not do such a job first time around but said very clearly today that they only replace boilers whatever warmfront promised) I stand here with a letter in hand from warmfront saying they would help me and i am currently trying to get through to them on the telephone to see what they say about the work they promised to get carried out. Does anyone know if they actually do anything at all apart from replace broken boilers because the engineer who put in my boiler said they did and to apply to them for a new water cylinder as it was about 30 years old and could burst any time and needed replacing immediately.
Do local councils help with such repairs do you know please?
  • I'm sorry to hear of your problems. It might be a good idea to write to Warmfront at EAGA partnership Ltd. FREEPOST NEA12054, Newcastle Upon Tyne. NE21BR, also contact DEFRA, look at their website and you can email them. Always keep a diary of events, copies of all letters, write down dates, times of phone calls, get the name of the person you are speaking to and briefly what the call was about. You can email BBC Watchdog and contact your MP in writing and send any correspondence which may support your claim. I hope this helps, it worked for me.

Hoping someone on here can help. My partner currently earns £17,000, next week he is taking a pay cut and doing less hours (althouh he'll still be doing well over 40hrs). He will then earn £15,000, we have a little girl and claim child tax credit for her and working tax credit too. My question is when can we claim for the warm front grant? Will we have to wait for the new tax year? His earnings this year will be about £14,500. Also we live in a private rented 3 bed semi with no heating except a coal fire and our own stand alone electric fires, do you think we'd get oil central heating put in, cos I really don't want storage heaters, I know they cost a fortune to run. Any ideas thanks???

Only thing to do is give them a ring and ask but I think you have to be on some kind of disability allowance or attendance allowance but no harm in asking
    Thanx

I would think that you would have to wait until your hubby has it in writing that he is working less hours and earning less money, specifically from the tax credits people, so you wil probably need to wait until the nex tax year. It is not true that you have to have some kind of disablilty element as when we claimed (last September) we were not getting disability for our youngest, although we do now. It was based purely on dh's wages and our child/working tax credits.

When the assessor came around, all she asked to look at as proof was our current tax credits award notice  I couldn't believe it was that simple. In the end was got everything done apart from a new boiler as our boiler is in good working order and is only a few years old. We had 16cm of loft insulation put in, full cavity wall insulation and draught excluders on all doors/windows that needed it. It has worked a treat as we have not had to crank the central heating up any where near as high this year. We also got a delivery of energy saving bulbs after the work had been completed. I was also pleasantly surprised at how fast they came out and did the work, from the assessment to work being done was just 4 weeks! They wanted to come earlier, but we were on holiday. All in all, a great service for us and thoroughly appreciated :T

From what it says on website I guessed It didn't maatter about disability as it states OR. As it staes you must earn under £15400 I thought we might be ok to apply from next week, I think I'll email them and ask. Would be lovely if we got central heating for next winter, fed up with cleaning out my fire everyday. Never had such luxuries. :o
