Crafttgranny - I'm glad Carly's op went okay!
Rusty - my kids' schools were both closed today - lucky things - they've just had the two weeks off too! Both my kids were nightmares when they first started school, it used to make me feel so guilty when I left them. I think most of the time as soon as the parent leaves they stop crying, I used to stay with mine for 10 mins in the class and then try and sneak off when they weren't looking!
Superfran - welcome to the thread!
Myzdamena - you are clever putting that clip on your blog!!! Dawn on qvc always goes on about scratching the glitter off from the card where you want to stick something, I don't know if it works but you could give it a try! I really like your pastel cards - perfect for spring, and your superhero cards are fab!
Thriftyscotslass - we've had no post or binmen today either! We managed to get to the asda though so the cupboards are full!
TomsMum - your cards are really pretty - I love the colours!
Jazabelle - that's pants! Some stores are so much better when it comes to customer service than others! I'd tell them you're so dissappointed with their service that you want to cancel your whole order!0 -

Hello Ladies
I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post things like this on here but it's so artistic I thought you might all like to see. It's all done with sand & a light box. There is a story being told, briefly Boy meets Girl, war intervenes etc etc. I think it's from 'Ukraine's got talent'.
Hope you enjoy - I did0 -
Well what a day I've had!
Yesterday was madness. "&son" got on his school bus and then everything went a bit pear-shaped.
I live just off the main road that has our a&e hospital and accesses the blood transfusion centre. Turned on to it - not gritted! Managed to get up the hill but then had to go down the other side *on the route between the helipad for the air ambulance and the hospital "not gritted!" after a bit of sideways driving - I was at 90 degrees to the kerb when I'd finished sliding I decided to give up, abandon my car and walk into work.
All buses were cancelled in Sheffield yesterday which meant that when school rang to say they were closing just after lunch, I had to complete a 4.5 mile walk to pick him up. Luckily, I managed to sort a lift home out when I got there!
So this morning, "& son"'s school was open but the bus he catches is to the secondary next door which was closed so I decided it was not feasible to get hoim in - particulalry as you never know whether the buses are going to be back on to get them home. So I've worked from home whilst he's watched dvds, played in the garden and generally driven me up the wall. We did walk the mile to the car this morning to see if we could get it out but after much digging I gave up . The car behind mine had been bumped by another which had slid on the same main road I'd had trouble on, done 40m on the pavement before sliding on to the side road and into the car parked behind mine. So we walked home again
This afternoon he was getting a bit restless so I said we'd have another go at the car followed by a bit of sledging as a reward. So off we set. Car going nowhere so we trudged the mile back home again discussing the lovely tea that we would have when we got home. Except when I got home, I turned my key in the door lock and..... nothing. Handbag, mobile etc all in house. No other way of getting in. Eventually managed to ring mum from call box and she spoke to someone in double glazing sales office - it was now 5.30 ish. And, thank heavens, they sent someone out. "&son" was looked after ny neighbours whilst i waited in cold for locksmith - he said his van set it was -4. I waited an hour in that on top of everything else. Mechanism completely failed. He had to break in with a drill and replace the whole mechanism but we're now in, warming up and completely exhausted.
And I still have to try and fetch my car again tomorrow!0 -
Oh my what a day you have had, hope you can stay in the warm until the roads are a bit better. Do you really need to get to the car? and work and school can wait till its safe. Take care xx0

Jazabelle That's the trouble with mad about cards . Almost every order i've placed has taken about 5 days to dispatch and another 2 or 3 to get here. The prices are good but i only ever order anything i don't need in a hurry. Very annoying that you can't add an item if you forget anything too.

Oooh dear sounds like an awful day !!!!
I agree with OAP .... My little one is staying home tomorrow ( if school is open) i live on a hill and its like a sheet of glass on the road. Theres no chance i will risk driving on it, eldest son already skidded and has knocked his steering out of line. So im abit stuck here until it clears abit
Ooh had a drama with Tesco delivery yesterday too... Driver parked up. Started unpacking boxes, carried some to me.. His van decided it was going.. So began slipping down the hill.. Luckily it hit a patch of pavement where next doors car had been parked so there was no snow.. His brakes caught again and the van stopped.. But it could of been a very nasty accident. It was quite funny though watching him try and stop the van by holding the door handle on the passenger sidefurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D0 -
Superfran saw this advertised in a magazine and thought it may be some use to you . Bit pricey but may well be worth it. https://secure3.subscribeonline.co.uk/origin/products.sol?mag=WINV&cmp=WEB08&promobox=falseCross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Wow !!
Dawn sending massive hugs to you!! What a nightmare!! hope you get things sorted, personally I think it may well be a waste of time even attempting to get your car out!!! I have been up and got 2 new tyres put on my car but I don't plan on going anywhere tomorrow, School text this afternoon and said it was closed tomorrow, I keep checking the road cameras and weather and I am sitting hoping OH will be able to drive home on Friday, but it isn't looking mega promisingat least he will get some overtime in at work if he gets stuck up there
Melissa - Glad your boys both got today off school, I know it is hard to have kids dragging about round your feet when they should be at school but at least there is no repeat performance like yesterday!
Jazabelle - I second what Melissa has said, personally I would call them or send them an email (calling is usually best) and tell them how annoyed you are that they will not let you add to the order, if they still refuse then cancel your order and order things from someone else.
Thriftyscotslass - Where are you?? are you up in scotland? Hope you can get some essentials safely without too many problems! if you struggle for bread then look on the net to see if you can make your own, a bit of a pain but sometimes needs must and all of that!
sorry I know I have missed some posts I am struggling to keep up!! ... No postman here today and I know he was ready to quit yesterday bless him, I even offered him a cuppa tea but he wanted to get home!! so sorry to those who I posted things to if this is the case for you aswell, not sure if post was collected from post office last night or not? sorry for delays!
Please please please stay safe everyone and only go out if you really need to! It is lethal out there!! xxxRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

I have to go and see the oldies tomorrow and make sure they have enough fresh stuff, Mums spare room is just like a warehouse so I know they wont starve lol
DTB Sounds like you have had a horrible day, glad you are both tucked up nice and warm now.0 -
Melissa my DIL saw the Earth Love papers today and she thinks they are fab!! and anytime I WANT TO MAKE HER (woops) something with them she will be happy to receive it. She laughed at me when I said I liked stroking nice papers lol. Its her birthday in March so I was thinking about a mini album.0
