Hello Ladies
I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post things like this on here but it's so artistic I thought you might all like to see. It's all done with sand & a light box. There is a story being told, briefly Boy meets Girl, war intervenes etc etc. I think it's from 'Ukraine's got talent'.
Hope you enjoy - I did
Marg thats amazing! I have never seen anything quite like that before. What a talented artist. Not a dry eye left in the audience.0 -
I’ve been off work today because of the snow, but had to work from home, so no crafting for me.
My kids schools were open, but got a text this afternoon to say that both are shut tomorrow, so another day of working at home for me. I managed to make this card last night which I am really really happy with. Got the inspiration from a card on Mrs B Blog. Hopefully, I’ll manage to get some cards done tomorrow.
Melissa - glad to hear your OH and son got back safely yesterday.
Craftygranny – so glad to hear that Carly’s op went well yesterday. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
Marg – hope you managed to do a couple of hours crafting today as you had hoped. If you did, can’t wait to see your creations.
Fab cards OAP and Tomsmom :T.
Myzdamena – hope you are feeling better soon. How fab that you got a card from create and craft. Tried to see the clip on your blog, but can’t get the sound to work – why are computers so carp sometimes.
Welcome to the thread Superfan – hope you get something sorted out for your wedding cards soon. Not sure if this card (just scroll down to the bottom of the post) will give you any ideas, but I did this one for a friends wedding using her wedding ribbon and some peel offs, got the buckle from here for about 30p.
Dawnteabag – sorry to hear that you have had a nightmare of a day, but glad to hear that you &son are now safe and warm back indoors.
Rusty sorry to hear you DD didn't want to go to pre-school. I'm sure she loved it when she had calmed down, and as others have said it sometimes takes the little ones a few days to settle in, but ultimately, she will love it.
I’d like to try and make it to the NEC in March if I can get the time off work, as it would be great to put faces to names and see if the images I have in my head of everyone are correct.
Hugs to anyone feeling under the weather and have had a rubbish few days, and hope everyone stays safe in this appalling weather.
xx
It is really bugging me, but does anyone know why everytime I do a link to my blog or a website it comes out bigger than the text in my post. I'm not consciously doing anything different I don't think, but it is starting to get to me.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -

Hi everyone,
I ordered a cricut recently, never tried card making properly before (other than order of services etc for friends and family) - took the plunge and bought it with my birthday money and am really pleased with it. So far making place cards for our daughters christening on saturday, I'll attempt to take a photo of them.
I need to stock up on some card, just plain colours and maybe also some patterned - went to a couple of shops yesterday but couldnt get and pink and lilac, only inn mixed packs and nowhere had lilac.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the cheapest place to buy card and paper online please?
Thanks in advance

I am presuming friday will be NEC day as it isn't as busy and there are loads of bargains ... I know some places sold out of things (popkins probably bought them out!!)Hi everyone,

Do you have a papermill shop near you? you can buy boxes of card in all different colours, mix and match as you want and a box costs £5. Not sure where in the country you are but this may be your best bet?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

That's a hard one Lou :rotfl: .
I haven't bought any card online for a long time. I was once on a day out and found a large craft shop which sold bulk packs of pearlescent card at a great price and stocked up, still have loads left. But when I first started out I bought some card from CraftCreations. At the time they used to send out little samples of colours but now they charge for them but they appear to be A4 size so at least you'd be able to use them. I had some Kaskad and some Vanguard - 225gsm and 230gsm so not the thickest card. I also had some of the metallic and the white - the Taffeta Smooth is lovely and you can choose you weight, I think I had the 280gsm. The price of the card (not samples) is for one full sheet 450mm x 640mm (I think that's A2 size) and they will cut it free of charge to what you want, i.e. 2 x A3, 4 x A4 or 9 x A5 pieces. Delivery is £3 but if you're ordering a lot that isn't too bad as card is heavy to post.
Other places I've bought from have been when either QVC or Create and Craft have had some bargain packs of card although they don't always tell you the weight. I think it's important to know the weight. The thinner card is fine for matting and layering but for an actual card I prefer the heavier stuff. Factor in the P+P for the shopping channels then decide if it's a price you're willing to pay.
Do you have a Paper Mill anywhere near? I don't but I hear they have a good range and you fill a box for a set price, or they have an online shop. I've also bought from Paperway, and even our local market used to have a lady selling packs of card at a reasonable price.
I hope that helps and you find what you want.
Another thing I do is to use plain white card and cover the front with pretty papers. You can see how this looks on my blog.
ETA: I've just been browsing the Papermill online shop, in the offers section they have some 240gsm coloured card, 10 sheets £1.99 or 3 packs for £5 or 7 packs for £10 and you can choose the colour you want. Delivery is free over £30, under £30 it's £4.95.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
RustyFlange - Papermill would be ideal but I've just checked, the closest one is over 20miles away and not somewhere we usually go, always the way! Thank you anyway.
TomsMom - your cards on your blog are lovely. So far I'm as far as doiing names and a border on my cricut for place cards, will be attempting to make the thank you cards so will have to get a bit more creative! I'll have a look at papermill on line, I'm sure I used craft creations when I made our wedding invites almost 6 years ago.
I was looking at buying some cards and inserts - I'm guesing it works out cheaper buying the card and folding and cutting yourself?!
Think this is going to take a while to get used to!
Thanks again,0 -

I would normally say yes to that question, assuming a sheet of A4 card works out about 20p. But then you have to buy envelopes too.
Also depends on what size card you want to make. A6 used to be the most popular as you can make two out of a sheet of A4 card. Personally I like 5" square, my cat one is almost 6" square. I was lucky to pick up some 6" square envelopes when I bought the card stash! I also like 5" x 7" and I bought some of those from The Works on offer, packs of 50 cards and envelopes. If you've got The Works near you (are they still around??) they quite often have offers on packs of cards and envelopes. I've seen white, cream, gold and silver metallic, and if you're lucky pastel colours.
Inserts I do on the computer on ordinary paper, 90gsm makes a nice insert.
ETA: I've just checked out The Works website, they have packs of 50 cards and envelopes £4.99 or two for £8. Didn't realise you could buy online from them.
I really must get off the computer and do something, I getting too tempted!0 -
TomsMom - Thanks very much. I'm going to order some from the works.
The card is on offer also, 6 packs of 10 pages for £5 so works out around 12p per page. Hadnt even thought about weight etc ... I've so much to learn lol!!!0
