We're due to go and see Father Christmas this weekend with my sister who got back for her Chrismas Break from Afganistan this week. We didn't want to impose on her though so had booked to camp close by - not as mad as it sounds - Mum has a lovely new campervan with heating, toilet etc - heck it's even got a microwave.
Rang the site to check today and they have 6 inches of snow.
Now what are we going to do?
Off to look at hotels I suppose. My poor Credit Card!

Blasted Washing MAchine!!!!!!!
- Whilst I was typing that my washing machine decided to break - so I now have water over my lovely new kitchen floor which was only fitted last week0 -
OOh Dawn bad day hunny? I have been there with the washing machine disaster, hope it all dries out ok. As for the trip, can you not still go in the camper, that would be a shame after all the planning, I hope you work something out. Glad your sister managed to get a break, hugs 2 youClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -

We are considering it but it really depends what the weather does tonight - the campsite currently has 6 inches of snow and is just about passable but they advised to ring back in the morning to see if it had got any worse.
Water mopped up ~(although I couldn't get he machine out to mop behind so am just pretending that it is all ok - that washing machine is darned heavy and I'd managed to get it 3/4 out when it looked like it was starting to rip the floor so I pushed it back again). Clothes rinsed and squeezed. Now just need to brave the ice to get the boy back from Boys Brigade and I can get on with what I was actually planning to do at 5pm. It's gonna be a long evening!0 -
:j:j:j:j strike is off :j:j:j:j we are going :j:j:j:j
I am so happy that I will get to see my grandchildren on Christmas Day and they still don't know we are coming.
The face is nearly mended and the dent is getting better in my pride
I'll be popping in and out over the next few days as my two sons are here tomorrow for the weekend and then I'll be getting the house ready for my friend who is house/dog sitting for us. It gives her a chance to get away from her MIL and also time to see her own family and friends. Then there's the ironing [STRIKE]pile[/STRIKE]/mountain to show to her cos.......... yippee! :j she loves ironing especially with an afternoon film on.
Hope it's not too bad where you are, I didn't go to work today as the roads were bad and we had two or three power cuts in the night and the last one lasted 15 hours. Everything back to normal now. I had three beautiful cards arrive today from MSE'ers and I will get them on my blog asap. Just finished making snowman soup besides Rudolph spares, reindeer food and cards to send of to my other grandaughters. Thank you everyone for your inspiration and help, especially flourgirl for her reindeer. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -

THE-WIFE - what fabulous news for you!! enjoy your christmas! xxx
Dawn - Did you manage to sort anything out about your trip away?
Sorry guys I am going to be busy on and off ... DD has been bad with quite a nasty cold/flu the last couple of days and then just before lunch today he eyes started squirting greeny yellow stuff! I got her an appointment at the doctors and they don't know what it is, they have said it could be part of the virus or could be conjunctivitus! She hates me as I have to put 2 drops in each eye 4 times a day!! I sit crying when I do it as it is hurting hernot sure how I will pin her down and put eye drops in when OH goes back to work on monday!
But the good news is ...
Although poorly DD is in her own room, with her own big girls bed, and her own big girls furniture which she helped daddy build this afternoon :j :j just got to order another canvas picture and it will all be perfect!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Morning ladies – it’s seems that the only time I have a chance for some real time on here is at the crack of dawn! Hope everyone’s Christmas preparations are under control, think things are OK here....
I’m going to attempt some personals from the last few pages-have been able to pop on and look at blogs but can’t seem to get properly signed in to comment – plus laptop has been running like a dog lately and I just get fed up and give up!
Great teacher gifts by the way – I did a couple of retro sweet jars, some paperclip bookmarks, and one of my sock mutants for DS1’s actual teacher – she loved the one he took in for show and tell one day.
We had about 5 mins of snow yesterday but gosh it was cold. Hope everyone who had/has it is able to enjoy it and not stopped from doing anything the want. DTB hope you can get to go camping! And I hope your floor has dried without too much damage.
NPSMama– congratulations on your pink bundle, I’m sure your boys will treat her like a princess.
Padster – love the penguins and I’m very impressed by your OH cooking skills too. I made some gluten free chunky monkey cookies today (basically cooked with just loads of chocolate chunks), but something went wrong and they tasted horrid. I think something had happened to the bicarb. Ooh, just spotted about your shoulder – yay!
Hope you feel better soon Choccy.
The Wife – so glad you will be going on your trip, and glad to hear your wounds are healing! We were worried for about a day when Eurostar said they were striking. We’re taking the boys to Eurodisney on 27th (they don’t know) – DH and I are very excited!
Rusty – sorry about DH’s test. I bet he’s fed up about it. Your little CC house looks brilliant – well worth the hassle. Sorry about DD – I think eye drops are the absolute worst thing to administer to a small child (well one you like anyway!) Hope she feels better soon and enjoys her new big girl bedroom.
Rainmac, I bet you were popular yesterday – handing out cakes to the children. Hope the footie is still on.
LYndach – a great first card. I think you’ve had some excellent advice and hope to see you again soon!
I’ve a couple of cards to make for someone at work – a 50th for someone who is a personal trainer, and likes a good time! I’ve got an idea to make some backing paper from some silhouettes images of people exercising – but our printer isn’t working at the moment – grrr. Actually if I hadn’t been asked I wouldn’t go near any crafting – seeing as my desk is stacked high with Christmas presents etc it will be interesting trying anyway!
Have a great weekend everyone. My DS1 is just doing some of his Christmas holiday homework – aren’t kids wierd!0 -
morning all, what a week I've had! been reading and trying to keep up but not had time to write anything substantial! we had the kittens spayed yesterday so I was hoping for some peace and quiet last night, nope they slept for a couple of hours after I got them home then they were running around like maniacs again!
I am off work now until the 29th December yay :j
rusty - glad you managed to get DD's room finished, I bet she loves itsorry to hear your OHs motorbike test was cancelled, what a pain! My dad had a motorbike when he was in his 20's then got rid of it, then when he turned 50 a couple of years ago he decided to get another one! we all say its his mid life crisis
lol he loves it though and is always going out on rides and meets etc
wifey - so so pleased you are still able to go away for christmas! have lots of fun and glad your face is getting better!
dawn - how awful, first your holiday and then the washing machine! hope you can get it fixed x
lyndach - welcome to the thread and fabulous first card! I wouldn't show my first one to ANYBODY, it's truly awful and I still have it because I can't bring myself to use it :rotfl:0 -

good for him, I would always leave mine until the last minute then be panicking at 8 o clock the night before!0 -
Dawnteabag, hope you can still go away and so sorry to hear about your washing machine. Our PC desk broke yesterday and it can't be mended. Need to decide whether we should buy another one (£100ish from Ikea) or maybe buy some sort of unit and have a laptop instead. Why do things always go wrong at Xmas???
TheWife, fabby news about your holiday, yaaaaayyyyyy!!!
Rusty, so sorry to hear DD is poorly, bet she loves her new room though x Sorry too that your OH has to wait till January to take his bike test.
Marg, sorry only just seen your PM so only just replied x
Glittermum, have a fab time in EuroDisney. I went the year it opened (long time ago) and would love to take the boys there.
Managed to get everyone's presents wrapped last night (it was a late one) so only got the boys to do now. May not be about much over the weekend cos we are out for most of it, boys still planning on going to footie - it's going to be soooooo cold!!!
Take care everyone xxx:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
