Used car I bought 6 days ago-i'm finding problems-what to do?

But lets get back to the original problems here...
A blown bulb...
And a dicky hazard light switch...
No real grounds for rejecting the car.
As for the clutch - if it was slipping the day the car was collected then yes, the dealer should fix it. If it has only started slipping more recently then the dealer could argue and say it was fine when it left here. Aoso, the OP has already stated that they are new to driving and have been taught to hold the car on the clutch at junctions.
That would get laughed out of Court or any CAB office lol.
Get the dealer to fix the duff interior light and sort out the hazard light - as it's a Daewoo it'll be using the old GM parts bin for it's stock, so it'll probably be the hazard light switch in the dash (everyone knows someone who had a Nova with a bit of card holding the hazard light switch in lol)
Back to the clutch - if the OP is worried about it then kindly ask the dealer to offer some kind of extended guarantee on it for maybe 6 months to put their mind at ease or go halfs on having it replaced.
Though I did have a customer who burnt his clutch out in 6 weeks of having the car. Upon inspection I could clearly see he'd been abusing it so his cry for help got ignored lol.0 -
Problem with buying a used car is that cars are unpredictable at the best of times. Its not like buying a new set of curtains- things will need replaced and repaired through time.
When you buy a used car theres aways niggles and idiosuncricities but its your responsiblity to test drive the car, look under the bonnet and decide to buy it.0 -
The day i recieved the car, I drove to my home town, which was from glasgow to just over the border.. stayed there a few days, drove back upto glasgow(3rd day of having car).
I called the dealership soon as I got back and told them that the clutch felt very wrong.. and that the hazard lights were going of randomly both when i was driving and when the car was parked (I never went near the hazard button)
He called me back the next day(4th day of having car), and said his boss said he is not fixing the car.
I called the RAC, I said the car was undriveable (as unsafe to drive, with your hazard lights randomly uncontrolably flashing, I would say so anyways) as I had the car registered with RAC back in my home town, it was classed as a break down here, as i was over a mile from home. So the guy came within 20 mins.
I called the dealership back and said that the RAC man had told me that the car was unsafe to drive, going by how close to totally worn out the clutch was. the guy said he would speak to his boss.
He called me back the next day(5th day of having car) and said that his boss said he's not fixing it, end off, and that it was out of his control, as it was up to his boss.
We told him to ask his boss again, as the car is unsafe, and that I have hardly had it anytime and I can't drive it as it's unsafe.
He called back the next day (6th day) and said that his boss still saying no, so we said fine, we'll be there in 10 mins, ware n tear my !!!!(as he said it was), it should be driveable (fit for the use in which it was bought) 2nd hand or not. So they can have the bloody thing back. He said ok fine bring it in.
So they had many chances to repair it, which would have been fine. So I'm rejecting it.
Just few forms to be signed by them finalising the cancellation of the deal, n sorted.
Shame really, the salesman was really nice, just a shame about the boss being a tit.Live Love Lose Learn :A0 -

If it's that unsafe to drive I hope you had it towed there rather than driving it there :rolleyes:0
