Ooh I knew I had something to rant about!

    **rant on***

As you may know DS is in a special needs school, he is a class of 7 with 2 teachers and 2 teaching assistants. He is the youngest in his class (4) and the other children are also autistic. Quite often his home/school book has comments along the lines of another child hitting/scratching him (they are a lot bigger than him) and we understand that there is likely to be some upsets because of the nature of the childrens condition.

Anyways, yesterday he comes home with a note in his book to say that he had kicked another child who was under the table he was sitting at and caught him close to his eye. DS had been told off and taken to the headteachers room for a telling off too. I have absolutely no problem with him being disciplined as kicking is obviously unacceptable but it is so unlike him - he is a hitter/thrower of things but doesnt normally kick. When I was getting him changed I noticed he had huge purple/red bruises on his arms really angry looking. Asked him about it but he didnt say anything to me apart from 'childs name' and 'pinch'.

Didnt mention anything in his book this morning although I meant too but he came home tonight with another note in his book apologising for taking him to the head for a telling off because they had found out that DS kicked the boy because the boy had crawled under the table to pinch DS's arms. They had now told the original boy off and reminded DS to tell them when someone is hurting him (he doesnt really feel pain and has limited vocabulary)

I know its no ones fault but just annoyed that poor little man was taken to the Head when it wasnt really his fault. It would have been scary for any child but for one that musnt have had a clue what was going on it cant have been much fun for him.

    **rant off**

    xxxx

I work with a lot of children like this and it is so difficult getting to the bottom of things at times. The worst of it, i find, is that they don't understand when you do.:o Keep going - and keep reminding the school ( not that they should need reminding) to look at all sides.:D

Thank you! Not much exciting to report here at the moment. Have been paid so have put all the pennies where they need to be and we should be able to save most of OH's earnings for the month but dont want to speak too soon!

Kids and OH are fine. DS had my sicky bug yesterday but was back to school today. I am off work tomorrow, so planning on getting stuck into the studying. Have two courses running alongside one another at the min so want to get ahead or at least keep up to date!

    Hope everyones well xxx
