Happy belated Birthday for the other day! It sounds like you had a really lovely day, you got some lovely bits too. Don't ya just love Birthdays?!
Well done on the weight loss, that is really impressive. Must be an amazing feeling. Make sure you drop those hints to your OH for the makeover day, you totally deserve it.
Also, another big well done on the debt going down, you will be debt free before you know it.

Morning all, freezin here today so planning on having a fairly quiet day in with the kids.
Luc - snowball says Aug 2011 but our 2 big debts (7k and 12k) are with a DCA so we are hoping once the others are gone to save up for settlements with them so very cautiously saying by the beginning of 2011 but don't want to get my hopes up!
This is on the basis that the house repairs can wait this long as well. We bought it in 2004 and it had just been done up but it was obviously done cheaply and we havent done anything to it since we bought it - everything is slowly coming apart but **luckily** nothing major yet it just looks shabby but everything works. I have a feeling though everything will go at the same time!

Sorry I missed your birthday but it sounds like you had a lovely time.
I also bought this place in 2004, still haven't done the major stuff and can sympathise with the shabbiness!Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Thanks Skint, I've always loved my birthday and always preferred it Christmas when I was younger - probably because it is just your day and I always try to do something for it - even if it just a day off work so it doesn't become just another day. This may stop though as I get older but I hope not!
When we moved here DD was 2 and DS wasn't born so the poor house has had wallpaper ripped by a toddling DS, kitchen wall drawn on (perpatrator never identified but I suspect DD!) and our lovely v expensive cream couch is beyond recognition (we bought it when DD was newborn - shows how much I knew about kids). The radiators are v old and don't work very well and the windows although double glazed don't fit right so get a lovely breeze through them and as of yesterday 2 tiles have fallen off the bathroom wall, oh and the fireplace surround has been smashed over the years by the kids dropping their toys on it. I am painting a lovely picture aren't I?! x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I still have the day off on my birthday and I'm forty now! I think I've only worked it once when boss booked me on a v expensive course.
My kitchen and bathroom are both very, very old - younger than me but probably older than you! Got draughty double glazing in DS's room, doors with gaps that accomodated the shag pile carpet that was here originally, I changed the carpets but after five years of DS they are suffering (and they were never that expensive to start with). ahhh...sounds as lovely as yours!Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

You wimps! Whats double glazing? (mind you I would kill for it!) August is less than 12 months away! Tunnels and lights spring to mind.

My dad says the same thing luc, they have double glazing but never switch the heating on, I remember waking up in the morning and making a mad dash across the landing to the bathroom because it was soo cold. I am not as much a wimp as OH though - he likes tropical conditions in the house which doesnt work when you are trying to reduce the gas bill!
I have pretty much caught up on everyones diaries, apologies if I have missed you out I will get to you (working through the subscribed threads at the mo) and have decided to try and add a new diary to follow each week. I am quilty of sticking to who/what I know so will try and follow new ones too.
Have washed up so far and made a half hearted attempt at the living room. DD wants to go for a walk over to the park later so fingers crossed the weather holds out! xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
