You are doing great on those debts.
I too have a house that needs loads doing as in new bathroom, new kitchen new carpets, plastering and decorating..but it can wait....lol0 -
Thanks Skint, I've always loved my birthday and always preferred it Christmas when I was younger - probably because it is just your day and I always try to do something for it - even if it just a day off work so it doesn't become just another day. This may stop though as I get older but I hope not!
When we moved here DD was 2 and DS wasn't born so the poor house has had wallpaper ripped by a toddling DS, kitchen wall drawn on (perpatrator never identified but I suspect DD!) and our lovely v expensive cream couch is beyond recognition (we bought it when DD was newborn - shows how much I knew about kids). The radiators are v old and don't work very well and the windows although double glazed don't fit right so get a lovely breeze through them and as of yesterday 2 tiles have fallen off the bathroom wall, oh and the fireplace surround has been smashed over the years by the kids dropping their toys on it. I am painting a lovely picture aren't I?! x x
Sorry, I had to smile, because what comes across is a wonderfully happy home, where the children r children and mum+dad, pulling their hair out!
This sounds like house confession time- heres ours.
My father promised to decorate the dining rm b4 dds 1st birthday, so my mother being her usual self, yanked off some wall paper behind the curtian, last month was dds 7th birthday - the dining room the same.
3 yrs ago, we had new combi-bolier, our central heating boiler died, they took out the central heating clock + switch from the wall by the TV, revealing some lovely green flower wall paper from the 70s - its still there.
Same time 3 yrs ago - the fire got condemmend, its still in the fireplace, never got funds etc to get new one.
Kitchen - Our darling puppy has ripped the wallpaper from his corner, quite funny if you look at it sideways, its like a cockeral.
The toilet - (recent), as bailey pulled off the wall paper in the kitchen, dd has started peeling it in the toilet - she was bored when she was having a no2.
The last time he painted the hall, stairs and landing was 2001, and that was only because, I'd paid for them to go away for the weekend, booked the weekend off work - stay with the dog, and thought I was doing them a favour, painted the hall etc + the kitchen, magonlia - not realising my mother hated the colour.
Shall we say decorating is not my forta in life, it was a disaster, he had to repaint, the dog had to have 3 baths, and I had to have a crop hair cut - made a big mess with the paint.
Get done eventually, though in his defence, he's running mother, me or dd around, we have holidays, and course the last 12 months - been a bit expensive
Washing machine
fridge
cooker
Lost Whisky + his ashes £200.
New TV - that came from reviews (worked my rear off!).
Eventually....... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thanks mum - its is definitely a lived in home and not a show home! One day we will all have lovely shiny homes where nothing falls off/down when you look at it!
Hi Beat the Debt - hope you are ok x
Had a nice day today been to the horse twice with the kids - it was bitterly cold in the morning but came out quite nice in the end. Had a little potter around the horse and played cars with DS and DD, they are fed, bathed and in bed and I am going to do 30 mins on the wii, bath and some studying.
Then the week starts again!
Hope everyone is well x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Evening all, hope you are all well.
Went to DS's parents evening tonight to review his IEP for the rest of the term. The teachers were really pleased with the progress he has made so far so feeling settled now I know that he is ok.
Had a lovely letter from Capital One waiting for me telling me that they are kindly putting my interest rate up to just under 40% - how thoughtful of them, needless to say I will pay thisff next - luckily there is less than £300.00 on there so shouldnt (in theory) take too long to clear!
Went out for a lovely meal tonight with OH tonight after DS's parents evening. We went early so got a teatime special for 10.00 each (2 courses) We havent been out just the 2 of us for ages so it was a nice but slightly naughty treat!
Not much more to report at the min - off for a catch up see you all soon x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I'm so happy that DS is doing well and settling at school .So that's a great relief for you.
Yuck to Capital one....I'm sure you'll get rid of that soon.
Absolutely great that you and DH went out and had some nice you time....I know how hard it is to get out and about together esp him working nights, you days, studying, kids etc...so wonderful x0 -
Thanks all - both schools have broken up for half term now - must think about childcare for next week soon! Have Weds off work so *may* nip up to Blackpool to see the lights.
It was really nice to go out with OH for tea although we were clock watching a bit because the kids needed to be back home for bed - may ask Mum and Dad to babysit them at ours one evening so they can put them to bed (although this will involve a big tidy up before I can let mum loose on the house!)
Paid off my Capital One card today - yeay. Checked budget for the rest of the month and all looked OK so thought I would take the plunge and pay it otherwise no doubt the money would have disappeared with nothing to show for it.
MBNA for the chop next - 1050.00 balance - can I get rid of it before Christmas?? Need to pay 110.00 a week off it to clear for Christmas so will give it a good go x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Bravery medal on its way for going through illuminations.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
