Brilliant shop at Tesco this evening. I went armed with my £5 off £25 clothes from The Sun, plus my usual handful of assorted coupons.
I bought my normal shopping plus £26 worth of clothes (well, a girl's gotta!).
But when I got the checkout I noticed some flyers sitting there - with coupons attached - giving £5 off when you spend £25 on clothes!! Woohoo! I picked one up, tore the coupon off and added it to my bundle.
All seemed to go well, the coupons all scanned - apart from the £5 Sun coupon. The checkout guy was a bit bemused cos he could see that I'd spent £26 on clothes. He said it may be because the coupon hadn't been put on the system, and told me to go to customer services to get reimbursed.
So, I popped along to customer services and was handed £5 in cash in exchange for the Sun coupon. The assistant was very apologetic and said that this wasn't the first time this had happened, blah blah blah. :j
So, I'm not sure if these flyers are available nationwide, but they certainly are at Silverburn!! So look out for them if you are buying clothes (especially if you have another £5 clothes coupon like I did! What a bargain!!).

Does anyone know what the date is on these ? Has anyone seen them in the North West or North wales area?0 -
All very confusing I guess we'll have to see how it all pans out. Tescos own coupons are 991 so we should be safe with that number. Having just checked out my little stash of coupons they are all 991 or 990 internet and otherwise, all obtained honestly!
I hope the don't cut short my couponing career I was just getting into it!
Are there any Tesco workers out there who have seen the aforementioned memo who are able to confirm the new rule?
As to date, this hasn't been mentioned, no memo's, nothing, about bar codes where I work. :cool:0 -
I don't work at Tesco, but have been read out the memo and apparently it is someone who is making fake coupons and passing them It is none of the ones that are on front page or manufacturers ones. It is 992 to 999. The memo does not say what product or amount the coupons are for.
The memo from t's regards someone or somepeople using FAKE coupons, all the ones on the front page are fine.
It only covers coupons that start 992 to 999, all the ones on the front page start with 990 or 991 so they are fine.
I think someone has been busy with a barcode generator or messing about with barcodes, so it shouldn't affect any of us honest couponers (hopefully)0 -

Just a warning that these flyers specifically state not be used in conjuction with any other clothing coupon, so be prepared they might not take the £5 flyer coupon and the £5 leaflet coupon together
sleepless
If you lokk at the coupons the one out of the paper has an identiacal barcode number to the one on the leaflet, which is why they didn't work together.miss-piggin :j Mum of 2 wonderful girls and a gorgeous little man.DFW Halifax£2330 Tesco£2576 Virgin£3238 Little£5468 Asda£242 Barc£240 Catalogue£1600 Halifax1£2k Halifax2£250 [STRIKE]Capital£100 Picture£53k GE Mo £30k. xxHi Need a break!
To answer your question, yes I have said this before!;) When I was a bus driver in the Manchester area we used to get all sorts of abuse from passengers, especially late nights. This one particular bloke was very drunk and very rude and I used the above little statement on him just as he was staggering down the bus to get off. (rather brave of me, or silly):D Anyway he had behaved so badly I slapped on the brakes and he ended up in the stairwell, his face had a rather intimate moment with doors before I opened them and let him off very quickly shutting the doors behing him extremely sharpish! I did not see the look on his face but I could hear the verbal abuse. The rest of the passengers found it very amusing though!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Theose were the days!
Hope your feeling better today dear!

Went armed with all my MOCs as usual. As my son is going off back to uni very shortly I'd done my homework in advance to make the best use of my MOCs (I'd made a list of all the things I wanted to buy, then looked on the T website to get the prices, then worked out how much I could fit within my MOC budget without having to hand over too much hard cash !)
Got to my favourite SA's checkout & unloaded. No sooner do I reach the till than an older "gentleman" comes up to take over from my favourite.
I've been to this older guy's till before in the past with no problem; however, just lately (call me paranoid !) whenever I've seen him in the shop he's scowled at me and made me feel very uncomfortable.
Anyway, as my friendly SA left the till, he said to the grumpy gent "you'll need your hand scanner, she's got loads of vouchers!" Grumpy just grunted.
Throughout the whole transaction he said nothing and didn't manage eye contact. He tried scanning my Lidl voucher, then after the till beeped and he examined the voucher, he literally threw it across the till at me, saying "well that just isn't going to scan, you can hear the till beeping - and anyway it's for LIDL, so of COURSE we don't take it".
I remained calm, and pushed the MOC back to him, and pointed out that the voucher had been accepted earlier in the week as it was a week-long promotion. He shrugged and said, "well it's not going to scan so we can't accept it".
I bit my tongue, then asked him to call the Supervisor just to check, as I knew the voucher had to be put through as a special item (non scan I think). He shrugged and lit his light. When the supervisor arrived she confirmed what I'd just told him.
He didn't even look at me then, and certainly didn't attempt an apology. All he said was "I'll do that one at the end".
My shopping came to just a few pence (as I'd planned), and he managed to mutter the total through clenched teeth (his mouth looked like a dog's bottom by this time, and his face was a kind of puce colour).
I thanked him and went on my way, but felt very unsettled by the whole experience.
Anyway, later this afternoon, I went with my daughter while she bought herself a sandwich in T's. We managed to go to my favourite SA, and he told me that as soon as I'd left the store, the elderly gent had exploded in a complete hissy fit, saying that what I was doing was fraudulent and completely immoral, and that I had no right to do it.
The SA (who's completely on my side, and always asks customers if they've got any vouchers to use) couldn't understand what he'd got so worked up over - he agreed with me that a great many of the staff use vouchers, and that loads more customers are using them in these credit crunch times.
On another note, he told me that their Team 5 bulletin (some kind of internal newsletter I think) today had told them they could no longer sell giftcards in return for vouchers. Also they'd been told that no vouchers could be accepted if they started with 90 up to 99. Not sure what that means, as all the ones I used today have scanned fine.
Seems we have a male would-be trout in my local, and it's not a nice feeling to have a brush with him, I can tell you...
It won't put me off, as I can't afford not to use them, but I don't know why some of them have to be so horrid, when others are so proactively positive about it.

MM please don't put up with this type of behaviour, make a complaint to his boss.
If he behaves like this to you i dread to think what he is saying to other customers.
If you don't want to talk to a manager directly perhaps write a letter.0 -

Well said Dawn27!:D
Maybe better to do this rather than using one of Tillys methods!:D
Sometimes Tilly puts her mouth into action before brain is in gear, and not always gaining the best results!;)

Please don't let anybody take this abuse or rudeness from ANY of the Tesco staff.
I worked in a Tesco store for 14years on checkouts and in the cash office till retirement. We were all been trained not to be rude/abusive or offensive to any customer. If a customer complained about us for any misdemeanour, we were taken in front of the Managment and given a verbal warning and it went on your records.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COMPLAIN TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, fill in a form and IT WILL BE looked into. DON'T let the trouts get their mean and spitful way, STOP them and get them re- trained in service etiquette.0
