Anyone used Premier Property Lawyers?

My experience of using them for the sale of our property was very good. Being able to upload/download most items rather than send through the post was very good. They were also very quick at completing things and were often chasing me up bits and pieces I should have sorted quicker!
We may have been lucky with the person we got but I'd happily use them again.0 -
My local solicitor did cost more than them, but took 1 week to do all the searches & from start to finish (receiving the keys) was about 10 weeks inc getting 2 new mortgages from London & Country!.
HTH
ps can you newbies stop spamming the thread as its tiresome on my hands having to keep bypassing your biased remarks!!No one said it was gonna be easy!0 -
I felt the need to come to MSE forum and vent my frustration at this poor company!
Cheap = disorganisation and lack of attention!
I am currently selling/buying a property and my buyer and seller are using PPL. The whole thing has been a complete sham.
After months of this circus it is now 1 week before our buyers mortgage offer expires and we have just been told the buyers still do not have the contracts to sign, even though PPL solicitor has had them for 2 weeks. We asked if they would send them to our buyers by next day recorded post and they flatly refused!
We also discovered tonight that our buyers are remortgaging a property to fund the deposit and have not completed this application so have no funds in place - how on earth after months of conveyancing have we got to a week before the mortgage offer expires and the solicitor has not thought to ask how the property is funded!
Furthermore our sellers were told by their solicitor (also PPL) that our buyers had signed contracts and the bottom of the chain was in place. Which was a complete lie. Considering they are the same company you think they would know what is going on!
So our seller has exchanged today and I had to break the news to him that the bottom of the chain has not signed and our buyer does not have funds in place. The poor man is now committed to 2 mortgages and is having a nervous breakdown that our buyer will pull out and the bottom of the chain will collapse.
My mum works for a solicitors (who are doing our conveyancing) and she has told me PPL are known amongst the proper solicitors for their bad reputation.0 -
Hi Cherry, my experience when things seem to take an age is that often it is down to the buyers, not the solicitors. That seems to be the case here. Maybe, your buyers are not that serious or are having cold feet, but to save face they are blaming it on the solicitor?
"We also discovered tonight that our buyers are remortgaging a property to fund the deposit and have not completed this application so have no funds in place" This is nothing to do with PPL. Maybe your buyers were less than honest with PPL about the source of their funds. Anyway, it is up to the buyers to sort out their funding, not the solicitors.
I think you should assume your buyers are playing silly buggahs and put your property back on the market. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
We used PPL for our purchase & completed last week. Our mortgage was with HSBC, so we chose them as they are on the panel. They were quite professional & handled our case well. We would have completed earlier but had to wait for our seller to find a suitable property to buy & that took a while. We would use PPL again.0

Just used them for a low price sale, and the e-Way process was so quick and easy on our behalf. 3 weeks start to completion.
Agree with others about hidden fees; our final bill was higher after extra fees, but the reason we went with them was because exactly the same happened with a local solicitors - the final bill doubled!!! I think this is just solicitors for you
About the referrals - is there anyway of going direct to PPL cutting out the estate agents / bank referrals and make it a bit cheaper?--- Warning: Grumpy Old Man in Training ---0 -
I haven't had a chance to read all the other responses above but we used Premier Poperty Lawyers when we sold our house in August this year. We found them extremely proffessional and helpful.
If anything went amiss we always found it was the estate agent who was holding things up and not passing things on. When we started ringing PPL directly we got things moving really fast and exchanged and completed on the same day.
It was not a straightforward sale either as we were in negative equity so there was a lot of additional negotiating between the bank to agreed to sale and the seller.
I cannot recommend them highly enough and I would not hesitate to use them again0 -
Get quotes from local firms, mine was cheaper than Premier and a lot more efficient.0

Do not use these, you will get recommended to use them by your estate agents but the company already has their own conveyancers called 1st property lawyers who will do your conveyancing for loads cheaper... they are just scamming estate agents, even when I went with 1st Property Lawyers they were still crap!!!!
I'd go with a high street solicitor, atleast they know what they are talking about and not lying to their customers.0 -
I am using them right now. Just exchanged last week and will be completing in 3 weeks time. They are really great and efficient. Will recommend any time.0
