That's a shame Lee - but listen to your body. You don't want to make it worse!

    Hello runners!

I love this thread & have done 4 runs in the last few months, I don't think I am made for running. With my new year enthusiasm I downloaded a podcasts for running series from itunes (it's free) & set off with great enthusiasm, they guy didn't talk much - that was beacuse I was on week 9 instead of week 1 as I discovered 25ish mins later. Week 1 is meant to start with 60 seconds run then a 90 second walk, his choice of music isn't the same as mine but it did keep me moving & focussed as I wandered round different machinery at the gym.

If you search in intunes for podcasts for running it should be the top result. I hope it helps someone/me etc

how about skipping if you have somewhere to do it? according to the experts 10 minutes of skipping is equal to half an hour of running ;) not sure if the bouncing will suit everyone especially if you are too overweight (best ask a Doctor) and take it easy at the start but as you get used to it and lighter on your feet it may be ok. Cant do it myself ATM as I dont have a garden or anywhere.

    Cheers

I want to try and start again with my running. I didn't do too badly until I got an infection which triggered off a really bad time with the Chronic Fatigue but now I'm starting to feel a bit better again I want to try and start running and swimming again to hopefully build up some strength again. The problem I have is that last time I kept pulling my calf muscles and ended up tearing one which was very painful. Can anyone recommend any warm up/warm down exercises and/or stretches to try and prevent the same thing happening again.
  • I should really try again too. Just gotr back from lanzarote, everyone was out running, i just couldnt be bothered. but did do around 2hours walking everyday. better than nothing
  • Have just found your thread... I have moaned about wanting to lose weight for so long, but usually while sitting on the sofa eating chocolate. No More!! My friend and I went out for our first run on Tuesday night and we are going again on Friday - I'm so proud that I got off my (ample) bottom and am doing something about it. We have been told that there is a program you can download to your i-pod which talks you through a run, I think it plays music and then tells you when your running time is up and to start walking... that sort of thing. Does anyone know anything about it?

for those who were/are/have followed the 6 week plan, how hard is it to go from one week to the next on the training levels?
