Ah..you remembered Claudie!!! Yes.. I done it.. I get my offiical timing tomorrow (all done via microchips!) but I believe I done it in just under an hour! I'm really pleased with myself!! My shins ached.. and my thighs are killing now!!!! I'm dreading tomorrow! lol Raised jsut over £200 for a local charity too!

Good luck with your 10k.. I've decided I will enter a race every 2 months to keep me motivated to train!!! I'm not sure if the next will be another 8k and I would like to get my time down to 40mins.. or to try a 10k!! I'm also starting aqua aerobics soon.. £37 for a suite!!!

Anyways.. keep postive! You CAN do it!

  • Put on a tracksuit and good running trainers. Go to your local gym and find the biggest meathead in there.
When he is doing the bench press jump on his stomach and pull a silly face.
Then I guarrantee you will learn two run very quickly, the technique is actually quite simple - its just walking but at the fastest pace you can manage and perhaps with your legs outstriding more than walking and...............

It has struck me how quickly I became unfit and gained back weight -it is sure quicker going on than off! I haven't decided when I can do winter running as it is too dark in the mornings for me to go alone...

But it is all coming back to me....I ran 4 km Sunday and 8km today - I reckon I will just make it Sunday with equal shares of walk/ run but I hope to do it in under 1 hour 15 without the marshalls carrying me home :o

Did you get your times K9? We have signed up for a 8km fun run late October which is multi terrain - now that is scaring me...

Yes.. I agree.. I lost my fitness really fast too!!! :( Multi terrain does sound really scary!!!!

Yes.. my chip time was 0:59:57.. so pipped 1 hour by 3 seconds!!!! I'm very happy with that.. I'm not sure what to do next.. on another forum I go on they ahve hinted at 10k on the same surfact...if I run the same pace at before I'd have it done in 1:15:00.. need to enter now really.. so guess I better get training again!

That is super - well done!! And do the 10km - go on, you know you want to

Are you still walk/running? I am but I have stopped timing the walks and jogs - I just jog as much as I can then walk for a bit then start jogging again...I don't think I will ever run without walking - I was built for shoe shopping with a built in monitor to stop at regular intervals LOL

Claudie! I entered at 10k last night! I've only been running once a week.. but a few people in my office are up for the run too.. so I'm hoping they will motivate me abit more again!

I had to stop and walk for about 30 sec twice on my 8k race.. I was alittle dissapointed as I know I can do it withouth walking hence I defo knew I had lost my fitness!

    I can't believe it! I did it!

It was so hard....we had torrential rain here last night and the track was just mud, huge puddles and mud and the "little inclines" were more like huge mountains to me. But I did it. It ended up taking me 1 hr 34 long minutes which was a lot longer than I wanted but the conditions just about did me in. When I woke up this morning I was so tempted to cancel as I was terrified but I did it.

Now back to training for the 8km multi terrain in October - after this track it will seem like a walk in the park I'm sure.

Oh and K9 I really admire you having to only stop twice, that is terrific. I just ran as much as I could today then walked the mud piles and hills then ran again whenever there was a dry bit.
