What is Sports Soccer? I'm after some decent running tops as cotton t-shirts are not the best things to be running in during the hot weather. Up until now, I've been paying about 80 pounds for my running trainers, presumably there must be better deals out there for the same quality.

its a sports store but a really cheap one. They used to specialise in donny if thats any help to you. Mine has actually been changed to sports word here is the website but I doubt they are as cheap as in store. http://www.sports-world.com/

Wore my trainers for a run last night, and they are really comfy, very suprised considering how cheap they were

hell even I am getting bored now, shouldnt you get back to looking after your kids

I can't believe someone is taking the time to pretend to be you.

In a way its quite a compliment but does show that the other person doesn't really have anything better to do... I wonder how long they will continue to be you ...and who will be next

By the way everyone thats posting here, You are doing so well. I have gone back to week 3 as due to my other half being away for a few weeks its been impossible for me to do anything as so tired and have no baby sitter . You lot are very inspiring and who would have thought that this thread would still be going after such a long time.

Hi Starlorna - please join us - I need all the encouragement I can get!

Week 7 was very hard for me indeed, I found the jump to 2 minutes of walking and running v hard indeed. And I couldn't get out for a run yesterday so I am repeating week 7 this week - can't imagine upping the stakes to 3 minute jogs this week!

When I started, I could not run for more than about thirty seconds without having a heart attack. I'm 24, and a normal weight, but clearly, that doesn't mean one is healthy. I was so shocked, that I came home, booked myself into a race and followed the beginners schedule.

Like you, I got stuck on some weeks and repeated them. I think very few people sail through smoothly. For a while, I was stuck on 8 mins run, 2 mins walk x 3.

I took two weeks off during my finals. And when I came back, goodness knows what happened as I am now running for 40-45 minutes at a steady pace without walking breaks. This makes me strongly suspect 95% of it is mental. Most times I have stopped to walk, I'm still breathing normally and my legs are not hurting. So, it must be me thinking 'I'm going to die' lol.

Look at this way: Most of the population can not even run for the bus without huffing and puffing. So you are way ahead of the majority.

I'd love to enter a marathon, and have bought the FLM guide for next year ... I wonder if anybody around here wants to join me in following the 24 week schedule for a marathon next year?

Thanks Barcode - just the kick I needed.

I should be starting week 9 now but am no where near ready; had a bad week last week with a tummy bug (a family of three and all of us had d&v, say no more!) and I missed Friday's run but managed Sunday and this morning. I am managing the 35 minute total but just not the right reps.

You are doing fantastically well. I know what you mean about mental but when I stop after my 2 minutes I just can't breathe. Now instead of forcing myself to run again after 2 minutes walking I just run again for another 2 minutes whenever I catch my breath. I have found our schedule has a walk Wednesday and I find the gap from Monday to Friday too long - I think I am going to run M, W, F and Sunday and see how I get on.

Overall though my fitness has vastly improved, my diet is far far better and hopefully someday soon the weight will start shifting.

Can't join you on the marathon plan just yet but I am sure someone here will be brave enough! Good luck and thanks again.

I'm getting a bit complacent now, i've got the RFL Wed and because I know I can run the distance, i'm making up excuses not to run, I obviously need another challenge to aim towards!

I wouldn't feel too bad - real life will sometimes get in the way, or illness. And sometimes, you might end up feeling more motivated after the break?

Do you know how fast you are running? You should be going slow enough to maintain a conversation. If not, it's too fast. For my birthday in two weeks, I've asked my partner for a polar heart rate monitor, it's rather expensive, but monitors your heart rate, calories burned, distance ran and goodness knows what else. Perhaps it might be an idea to invest in something similar?

Otherwise I can't offer much help other than to say it DOES get easier. Although when it happened to me, I'd be gritting my teeth, swearing, and vowing never to do it again. But I always felt far better after the run than when I began, and hopefully you do too :)

My update (if anyone cares!!).. I've managed to lose 9.5lb in 11 weeks! I'm well chuffed as I've still been eatting my chocolate biscuits and takeaways (slightly less often though)!!

So just need to lose the same again for August and I'll be at my target for my indoor sky dive in October. It kinda makes me more determined to lose more then 9.5lb over this next 11 wk period, but I'm not promising anything!!
