The resale value of the car in 3yrs will be worse than a citroen saxo. If you plan to keep the car in the family then its a good idea to buy it, but if you want to p/x the car against a real car in 2years time, expect a shock on the trade in value on the car.
Find these entry level cars come very basic hence why they are cheap. A better buy would be a suzuki swift etc which come with more goodies for them long days sitting in traffic.
I drive a Clio 182, its ok..has its issues but i know when i come to p/x the car next year, ill be looking at £7k trade in against something. Currently owe £4800 on the car with its market value of about £9200 now.
The KA is cheap to insure, but you have to remember its a small car, built for round town driving. Its not a big Audi A4 TDI for comfort, its something for running the shops, short runs to work and back. Prob dont put someone in the back as they will have very little leg room.
Before i bought the clio, i wanted a Sports KA, but i woke up and smelt the coffee. The 1.6 was rather slow for a mans car.
I get 42mpg out the 182 if i drive it normal below 3,000rpm, if i go over that im looking average about 30mpg but a very very big smile and lots of cars overtaken.
Shame the tyres are £93 each. Cant money save on them...
Damn Michelin Pilot Exalto's PE02's 205/46/16 - Kwik fit price £136, i need 2. Shame.
Don't know about this. I was going to buy a Suzuki Alto which came with all the extras and CD player, but the depreciation on these is horrendous, much worse than the Ford Ka. No car is a good investment, but some do tumble in value much more than others.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I refer to my previous point about depreciation. If the car is cheap in the first place the depreciation on something with a Ford badge will be pretty good. It can't drop very much if it only costs £5000 in the first place. My current £12800 car will nearly lose more in 3 years than the Ka cost outright!
P.s and the tyres are cheap0 -
Last year the car with lowest running costs including depreciation was the Toyota Yaris IIRCThanks to all who post constructively.

Have you tried the Kwik Fit website?
I needed some new tyres and the other day went on the Kwik Fit website, put in my car and got 2 tyres (the cheapest ones for a rover 200, I'm a skint student) for £64 all in (fitted, balanced and old ones disposed). The website said if you get a quote online take it to store as it will be cheaper, plus its easier to find the cheapest tyres as you can sort by price and benefit from offers on selected tyres.
I asked how much it would have cost if I hadn't got quote online and the guy said around £12 extra - so check the website, you might find cheaper tyres!0 -

if the problem with the tyres is really bad you wont be drving anywhere in either case0 -
I was looking at Ford KA but ended up going for a Fiat Panda in January from the Bristol dealer who sold me one for £4995 - brand new.I'm here to kick butt and chew bubblegum and i ain't got no bubblegum0

Is that really true that the depreciation on a Citroen Saxo is less than a Ford Ka? After all the Saxo is obsolete, can't remember when they ceased but it must be a few years ago. When I do a price check on my Ka it is still worth much the same as I paid for it fourteen months ago, so the £2,000 saving I made on the purchase price certainly took care of the initial depreciation.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

My attraction for puchasing a Ford Ka's somewhat waned after finding out that the nearest Ford garage that the nearest dealership for Autobytel's in Farnborough! If I want the vehicle delivered, it's going to cost me £416:eek: !!!!! (£1 per mile) I really don't want to jaunt down there as I'm not the happiest of bunnies on motorways anyway!
