If you click the link in post 28 it suggests Autobytel had some available at lunchtime today, whether it includes AA and 6 months tax I haven't checked
Thanks to all who post constructively.

I bought one of these last year - same sort of offer. It was registered on a 54 plate in Oct 2004 and I bought it in February 2005 for £4995 with just 5 miles on the clock. It was a big Ford dealership in the South (Hendy Ford) and they had about 80 of them at the time - obviously a promotion to get lots registered to make Fords sales figures look good nationally. As it was basically a brand new car, I bought it unseen just paying a deposit over the phone and they took my old Fiesta in part exchange and gave me double what the local garage had offered! (only £200 mind).

I am really pleased with it, I know the radio/cassette is a bit naff for nowadays - especially as you haven't been able to buy cassettes in the shops for years, but it suited me as all my music is on cassette. It is really fun to drive and so easy to park - even I can now do parallel parking! It has power steering and ABS which were the two things I really wanted. I didn't want electric windows and central locking - more things to pack up as it gets older.

Fuel economy is not that wonderful, averages about 40 mpg which, for such a small car, is not brilliant. I was fully intending to buy a Suzuki Alto and had even gone for test drive, but then spotted the fantastic KA offer - £2,000 off list price. They do seem to hold their price very well, I have had mine for over a year now and it still seems to be worth much the same as I paid for it.

  • Broadspeed.com are also listing the Ka as low as £4995 'on the road', no info on AA coverage though.
Dealdrivers had some same price a while ago but can't seem to access their website the last couple of days.

Forgot to say in previous post - came with balance of 3 year warranty, which was only a few months short of that, plus RAC cover for 8 months.

To be fair, KA's post 2002 have newer 'Duratec' Engines which improve economy and power.

  • My hubby works for them - wonder if further discount means 4k max?

It would probably be a more enjoyable motoring experience getting the bus. Hideous cars, made to sell for a pittance to the indian market at far less than we pay. Avoid at all costs, the KA is a much better deal, even more so as Ford still exist as a company :p

yes the rover city is a terrible quality car best avoided, my elderly neighbour bought one when they first came out, her son came round 3 days after she bought it and made her take it back, they was so shocked with how terribly made it was, 3 days old and there was already numerous problems!
