This is why you should never ever moan about spelling or grammar on forums as your bound to make a mistake.

For exactly the same reason you should never point out other people's mistakes!

On The Flipside, I Get Equally Annoyed By People Who Capitalise The First Letter Of Every Word When They Send Me A Message.

It's Up There With Text Speak On The Scale Of Pointless And Irritating Modern Social Habits.

    Ooh I know!

My Mum started doing it in emails, and when I teased her about having forgotten her grammar school education she said she started to write like that because everyone else seemed to and she thought it was the modern way.

    Where did it come from?

It must be a pain in the bottom to type apart from anything else!

Am I the only one who gets really, really, really irritated by this? irked.gif

It drives me up the wall having to go through each address change them all! If you write the address on an envelope or letter you would use capital letters so do it on eBay and Paypal too!!

    .

I hate it too but I don't blame people - I blame eBay and Paypal.

eBay / Paypal really needs to make it crystal clear that the address details you're punching in will be sent to buyers and seller forever more.

I'm "old school " so I wrote mine in properly (with punctuation and everything! :D) from well ingrained habit - but it's a lower case world we live in these days so I don't blame people for just bunging the info in there and not thinking about how it may be used

And the anal thing is I have to spend time correcting it. The fact I just have to do it really irritates me even more.

    Ooh me too.

I couldn't possibly send it out looking like that!

it's the modern way. language, grammar and spelling evolves...
the rule is: there are no rules.

i always fill everything in in lower case apart from the Postcode.

however, my pet hate is the use of the initialism LOL

Thanks I just joined eBay yesterday and I am now so paranoid that i may have incorrectly input my address I need to check it now.

Surely I would have typed it correctly, at least my name!

As for text speak when i am on forums i use it mainly because if i type, if you see what i mean. You get jumped on for being daft and not making life easier for yourself by using IYSWIM.

    What a mine field.

I copy & paste the postcode into RM address finder. This also confirms the address is correct. You can then copy the result to your label/invoice software.
