After you’ve made the application online, you’ll receive a copy of the application form which you need to sign and send back to them along with a signature form and DD (if you want to use a DD). If you want to add funds by cheque, you can send it to them along with this paper work.

You’ll then receive a letter confirming your account number and sort code. You can then add funds electronically if you want (ie by BACS or FP).

At this stage you can start the online banking registration. You visit tescofinance.com, click on register. During this you’ll create a customer number and this prompts them to send the second part of the registration number by post to you.

On receipt of the 2nd part of the registration number, you can complete the registration process.

At this stage you can request a card and card reader, which is what you’ll need if you want to make withdrawals online. However, if you haven’t got a card and card reader (not to be confused with the Instant Access Savings card), you can ‘phone them to make withdrawals, or use the Instant Access Savings card (pink) which they will have posted to you, along with the PIN at a cash machine.

During all of this process, you will undoubtedly receive letters from them telling you that they haven’t received one or other of the copious pieces of paper that they’ve sent to you for signing.

It’s the most long-winded process for opening an account I’ve ever experienced.

Oh yes, by the way, you won't receive an email from them during any of this.

Doesnt sounds like its worth it. Id probably do it alright and chuck my time into it and then have to chase up the points... Anybody have any experience with a similar one on the past?

What about multiple accounts in family member names but with my clubcard? Would it credit me points?

I would doubt that would go through successfully, tbh...

According to post #6 HERE, family members using same clubcard would be eligible.

Whenever I try to apply online, I get this error message:
Savings Account Applications are currently unavailable. Please try again later.

Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

I didn't have a problem when applying online, however, once it was set up and I'd "added" it to my existing list, so I could view it online, it disappeared after a couple of days. Which when I rang them, they said was down to security reasons (they'd lost my confirmation of receipt of card).

Husband had to send them a letter to re-confirm his dob (eventhough when he rang they said they'd got it on their records), and after finally receiving his registration codes, he can't view the account online until he's sent them another signed application form, eventhough they've confirmed that they have his signature verification form, but no scanned copy of his application (which was stapled to the signaure verifaction form when he sent them back originally). No wonder they've got such a back log, they're having to deal with everything 3 times over! They're absolutely useless.

Edit: Unbelievably, in the post today, ANOTHER request to confirm his DOB and ANOTHER signature verification form to send back. What the hell are they doing with the things? Promised 'phone calls to resolve, but, of course, no one rings back.
  • For super savers taking advantage of the £10000+, be aware that the account you are transfering the money from may have a security limit - so you may need to make two smaller payments on different days to ensure it goes through in time for the 7 October.

Good luck, have fun with your rewards.
Freebie Manor was the name on the Plaque my mum gave me for first home which was equiped with freebie banded cups, teapot, coffee pot oh and a sofa which cost a bottle of Vodka. My motto's are don't ask dont get, and don't buy if they say no.
  • Hi the easiest way to deposit funds seems to be to contact your main bank once you have the new tesco savings sort and acc no. and set up a one off same day electronic transfer/standing order (limits may apply). And to get the money out of Tesco I suggest the telephone banking option as the registration was really straight forward. Hope the lines not to busy on 8 October. :j;)

Online transfers out, using the Internet Banking Card and reader, are easier and cheaper (no 'phone call needed).

I got an ATM card about two weeks ago but no PIN. So I phoned and they said they would send one. A day or two later I had one and two day on agan I have another!! Pfffffffff. Now I'm awaiting a card reader, card for the reader and a PIN for the card. I wish I hadn't bothered for the bloody points. I'll have to make a special two bus ride to Tesco to use the points/vouchers whereas Sainsbury's is a walk away.
