hi, thanks.
i've left it late as for some reason i had it in my head that the train journey was much longer than driving:o.
i can get oakham to birm for £17.00, but seems to be another £40.00 FROM BIRM TO BRISTOL.
splitting at chelt spa does give some savings, comes to £53.00 in total. i also thought about birmingham to swindon as it stops at bristol parkway.
there are still advance tickets to be had, just expensive compared to petrol. thanks for your input0 -

I didn't arrange this so I have no idea what these tickets were. They are going again on 26/5 and I need to arrange 10 tickets. I've found good train prices on National rail for group bookings but I would rather get the tickets they had before as then it's all sorted. Can anyone help me with where to look or what these tickets are called? Thanks very much for any help.0

My son's friend decided that he wanted to book the tickets so I passed on all the info I was given. In the end they only needed 4 tickets. He decided to book them with National Rail and bought "Super Off-Peak" Day Travelcards. Does it matter that he put the journey as Southampton to Waterloo rather than on to Custom House(I think thats what it was for Excel London)? The price for both options is the same so I assume it covers the onward journey? If anyone can confirm that what he's booked is ok that would be lovely. Many thanks.

Hello
I'm needing to travel from Newport in South Wales to Lincoln (or Nottingham if cheaper) 5th June (bank holiday) for my nans funeral the next day, then return to Newport on 7th June. Cheapest was £81 return but can then get to Notts for about £60 - any cheaper available or codes do you know?
Thanks0 -
Can anyone help me find the cheapest train ticket for 2 adults and 1 child from London to Clacton on the 5th June and returning on 7th June please. I also have a family railcard. Thanks!0

By buying Advance Singles from London to Colchester, and Anytime Singles from Colchester to Clacton, you can shave a fiver off that.
Remember that with Advance Singles you must travet on the booked trains.0 -
looking for some help and advice please....
I know these dates are not quite released until the end of the week, but I am looking for some advice as to which sites to look at and the best way to get the cheapest deals...
2 adults & 2 children with family railcard travelling from Swindon to Dalmeny (just outside Edinburgh)
Travelling out Friday 7 September leaving early (before 8am if poss)
Returning Sunday 9 September leaving Dalmeny around 11am.
Would prefer to not go via London if at all possible, as we dont fancy the drag across the underground from Paddington to Kings X.
Please can anyone advise which sites are best to look at, and how to work out the splitting? And is it at all likely that we may be able to find a first class option that doesnt require a remortgage!!! (I know that is highly unlikely, tbh I will be happy with a standard class ticket that does not bankrupt me lol)
Thank you for any help!0 -

Try Wolverhampton or Manchester Piccadilly, but if you go for Advance tickets remember your min connection times (for that journey I would make sure it was at least 30mins but the National Rail website tells what is minimum connection time for each station) and you must travel on booked trains. And is it at all likely that we may be able to find a first class option that doesnt require a remortgage!!!
Unfortunately your Family railcard won't give a discount for 1st class tickets (Upgrades to First Class at weekends only) so the price will be expensive.(I know that is highly unlikely, tbh I will be happy with a standard class ticket that does not bankrupt me.
Also have a look at the flying to Edinburgh it might be cheaper.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
If you split in Manchester it may be worth while looking at the Transpennine site
If you split in London - East Coast - the bus may be an easier option than the tube for the Paddington Kings Cross transfer
And don't panic if the tickets are not released exactly on schedule - it's not a precise thing0
