No, not first class, but went on to Scotrail and they are coming up at £121.60 each way for both of them, £243.20 in total. Havent looked at splitting tickets, would they need to get off and change trains ot be able to stay on but use two tickets. Sorry for being dim but its quite a while since I have been on a train. Thanks again.0

Splitting tickets in Manchester would involve a change of train - as there are no through ones that way.
If there were a through train they wouldn't need to get off, only (possibly) change seats to a new reservation. The train has to stop where the tickets are split, that's all,
With a railcard that fare would come down to £80.25 each, return. (They'd need one each if eligible - £28, valid for a year. No need to buy with the tickets - that can be done later)0 -
Can anyone please help with rail ticket prices please.
Hitchin, hertfordshire - Hastings, Sussex. Dates 26th - 29th March. Leaving about 10 ish (later if its cheaper) and returning about 6 ish. We do have the use of a net work rail card.
Thank you xx0 -

As you're looking quite close to your departure, you'll almost certainly pay £46.40 per adult (16 and over) making this trip. You can enter your journey into the East Coast.co.uk website and try different dates and times to see if you can find a cheaper ticket.
The train is cheaper than a National Express coach, which is £66 for a return to Brighton and then a few pounds more for the train.
Have a great trip whatever travel you settle on!A caped crusader of awesome consumer justice! :cool2: :beer:0 -

Two people have replied to your posts... one of them has wasted their time.
It's also against the forum rules...What's spam?
Forum users mustn't post the same forum post more than once on the forum (the only exception is members of the MSE Team; when needed). It's called spamming and most internet forums forbid it. Where spam is reported to the Forum Team posts are deleted and the user's Posting Privileges may be removed.0 -

If it were me, I would buy at the station just before travel.
Then if arrangements change, no money is wasted.
Remember, if travelling with a Network Railcard discount, the Off Peak Return is not valid before 10am.0 -
Advice please.
Travelling from Lincoln to Portsmouth on 19th June 2012 and returning on 3rd July, outward from Lincoln at 1015am and returning from Portsmouth after 2 00pm.Will be travelling with a senior rail card and will need an open return ticket. The best price I can find at the moment is £59 75p,and I am wondering if cheaper tickets will become available in the 12 week window. Also wondering-,will the return ticket be avilable on the London underground as I have to transfer between Waterloo and Kings Cross?0 -
Yes cheaper tickets should become available in due course - don't take the 12 weeks too literally, it's not an exact date
If you buy a through ticket from Lincoln to Portsmouth it will include the underground trip.
On a random date on which cheap tickets are available it comes out at £38.30 return so the saving may not be massive. The fare you have found is flexible and can be bought on the day at the same price.0
