Currently I am paying £540 per month to travel from Southampton to Waterloo with underground on the ticket too. For the underground I only need zone 1

IIRC in the long distant past you could get an outboundary season just to zone 1, but not any more.

Redbridge comes up as the same price as Southampton Central. So you could have Millbrook & Redbridge for free.

Netley also comes up as the same price and might effectively offer you all stations to Fareham, plus Botley & Hedge End as a bonus, but check the validity of this.

Does anybody know if I can make the most of the advance fares I used to get on Redspottedhanky/Thetrainline actually at a railway station from the counter?

I recently had to get a new bank account (on the advice of my very helpful Payplan advisor), unfortunately because of my poor credit rating I couldn't get a card that I can use for online payments and so can't buy tickets online anymore.

This is a BIG deal to me, as I make the trip up north from London to see my boyfriend as much as I can afford (once a month, maybe twice if I don't drink that month) - if I can only buy the non-super-advance tickets my spending will shoot up around £30-£65 a month and I just can't afford that! The only other option would be to...well, it's unthinkable, really.

Oh, also I do know about megabus offers and such, but it takes around 6 and a half hours to get to where I'm going by coach...most of a day I could be spending with a man I barely get to see enough as it is! I'm sure you understand my predicament anyway! Any help would be much appreciated :)

Advance Singles can be bought at a railway station booking office.

Do all your research beforehand and make notes of exactly which trains you want to travel on and ask the helpful man/lady to sell you the specific tickets you ask for.

We aware though that it is possible for Advance Singles at a specific price to sell out before you can get to the booking office.

Thankyou Wealdroam, I'll have to get myself to the train station early on Tues then :) ... (the station near me is closed as much as possible due to cuts. Very annoying)

I wonder if anyone can help?
I need to find two returns for my daughter and her friend, from London to Blackpool North, but I can't seem to find it any cheaper than just over £79 each.
The cheapest option I've found is megabus to Preston then the train, but the girls are reluctant to be on a coach for so long.
    Any ideas??
They are actually travelling from East Croydon, but I've been searching from London rather than EC.

D'oh forgot to say they're travelling to Blackpool on 18 May and coming home 21st
