    dzug1,Thanks for your reply.
Do you know if the cheap tickets will be available on open return through tickets,or will I have to get different tickets for different parts of the journey

The cheapest tickets are normally advance singles - so you will need to buy one in each direction. They will still cover the underground. They will only be valid on the trains you book and not on any others.
They were £19.15 each way on the day I looked - but there are other prices

The £59 odd fare you have found is a return and is an open ticket - apart from having fairly severe peak hour restrictions. It's valid one month for the return journey

Well if you can move your times slightly, can be done for £102.60.

Dep Glasgow QS 07:15, arr Scarborough 12:30. Advance Singles = £45.60 for two.
Dep Scarborough 17:48, arr Glasgow QS 22:50. Advance Singles = £57.00 for two.

To get that outward fare, you must book on East Coast Trains website.
May as well book the return leg there too.

There's a £16 saving. Might be more if you consider splitting.

Thanks for this, the £16 is better in my pocket.
Yes i've noted that splitting seems to be the way to go but, i find this complicated.

    BIG thanks

Does anyone know of a good discount on the friends and family railcard?

For last couple of yrs I've managed to find 50% off but can only find 10%. Is this the best I can get?

On the subject of railcards.. if you're an annual season ticket holder and your journey is wholly within the Network card area, you're entitled to a Gold Card free of charge which gets you 1/3rd of all leisure travel subject to Network railcard restrictions and you can take ppl with you on journeys.

What isn't so widely known is that as an annual season ticket Gold Card holder, you can get a Network Partner Railcard for another adult, for £1 currently saving £27 which said adult can use in own right.

Also, if you have a season ticket Gold Card to London check the wording and code on it. OH was told by train staff several times, that the by any route wording plus appropriate code means that he can use it on other routes serving London, locally ie if the train service has an end destination of London he can go to/from any intermediate station on that route too, not just route he uses weekdays.

My partner and I regularly travel from West Midlands to London (at least once a month return) so I am thinking the Two Together Railcard is the best option?

Any discount options for purchasing this? Can the card be used for oyster card discounts too?
Pink is so not my colour :undecided
