That's the website I used and the cheapest was £30 singles. How did you get that result?
Just had a look and the £25.55 fares are still available for the 14th Nov, but unfortunately it looks like the £25.55 fares on the 4th have now risen to £30.95Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

When I looked yesterday lunchtime all I was offered was the £30.95 goes to show the website displays different fares at different times....
I may have to travel back on the following Sunday now and they haven't been released yet so I think it's going to have to be an off peak return.
Thanks for trying.....0 -

Thanks but that's a very long winded route and bit much travelling for my liking :rotfl:0 -
One more thing, if you're over 55 you can get a club 55 card, £19 return between any Scotland stations. So Inverness - Edinburgh £19, edinburgh-Darlington £11.9. That would make it £30.9 return0

Do i have a case for a refund or not?
Right sorry if this gets confussing.
Saturday just gone 3 of us had 09:00 train booked from Bristol to Manchester.
Now this train was due to start in Taunton at 08:12 where 2 of us live (our mate lives in Bristol)
However on arrival to Taunton station the train was canceled! We asked the office girl and they just said yeh cross country have had problems this morning so the train is just starting in Bristol now!
This gave us no chance to make it to Bristol for 09:00!!0 -

She probably would have endorsed the ticket and allowed you to travel on the next available service, but more than likely that would have been useless given your deadline.
My advice would be to send this to cross country and enclose your tickets:
