I can't find any cheap singles on the route I'm looking for (Wrexham - London). I have checked up to the latest booking horizon. There used to be tickets for £12 but now there is nothing less than £25 and that's for trains either extremely late or early. What's happened to the cheap tickets?

£25 IS cheap = the normal fare is £69, off peak, though your fare is theroretically at least still available

What has happened amonst other things is that the cheap company that served Wrexham went bust

Might be worth looking at split tickets

Thanks for that. So I guess the demise of the Wrexham/Marylebone service left a monopoly on the route and this is the result.

There is no monopoly as there are various ways to get from A to B on that route.

Fare increase at beginning of September? Next week £31.00 is the max.

Yes I see. Seems a bit early this year. Fare changes kick in on 4th September as that's when NFM10 takes effect.

I see that XC are taking the opportunity to maximise their income again. Current prices are £19.50/£27/£31. A hefty rise I think.

Not without getting on an Arriva Trains Wales train there isn't.

Arriva trains Wales dont go into London so therefore they cannot have the monopoly on the Wrexham to London Journey that you require.;)

No Arriva Trains Wales have a monopoly on all trains from Wrexham.

So you meant something different to what you actually typed then?

Its not uncommon for stations to only have one TOC that calls there.

Not quite a monopoly as there's one Virgin train a day to London and one Virgin train from London (Mon-Fri).
