Hi After going round in circles I have decided to put my faith in the experts, again! LOL
Iam after return tickets from Birmingham to Edinburgh for myself and my wife. I have no specific dates but was looking at next week as I have a week off:j and hoping for a two or three day break!!
I just can't get my head round the ticketing split on this one, each time I seem to get confused and end up travelling up the country either via the East, West coast or straight up the middle!!!
What would be the best ticket split stations be in you opinions or if you have any ideas, times, prices all will be gladly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.0 -
1 look up the off peak (open) return route any permitted price - this is the maximum you should pay
2 Look up advance singles. It won't matter if coming back is a different route. If they add up to cheaper than 1 buy them
There is no simple split that always works on a journey like this - it's a matter of establishing the main stopping stations and trying.
You could look at megatrain but I think the timings are awful0 -

I find I'm having to travel between Leeds and Manchester area once a week at the weekend for the next 5 weeks. The actual location in Manchester area varies.
Saturday 13/08 I'm travelling Leeds -> Manchester Airport -> Bolton -> Leeds same day. A Leeds - Manchester return is £16.50. For the Bolton & Manchester Airport legs, I'm looking at getting a System One day pass at £5.60. The cheapest combination I've been able to do from Leeds to Manchester is £15.20 splitting at Huddersfield. The train operator is First Transpennine express.
Alternative routes are via Manchester Victoria with Northern for around £14.80, not my preference due to the multiple stops and additional 30 mins to the journey.
Is there any way to get the price down? I should add I have a First West Yorkshire annual pass for buses too.

Just quick question, I had booked tickets that are non-refundable on east midland trains to London on Thursday, meant to be a nice day out for 7 children, reckon the current climate would be ground for a refund or even a free transfer??0
