Declaring at £74.05 as spends for August. This looks very impressive until you factor in that we were away for 2 weeks!

Still, plenty left from annual budget for now......

I have really enjoyed my first month of the challenge as it has really made me think about my food buying habits. As a result the amount of money spent has come down, my cooking has become even more creative in order to use things up rather than bin them and I now have some homemade meals in the freezer. I think the next stage in the challenge for me is to be more aware of vouchers to see if I can reduce the cost of my shopping further.

Please may I declare £69.15 for August and put down a budget of £75 for September.

    Hiya guys! Hiya MrsM! :hello:

Can I please declare at £175.73 for August.

I failed :o but not too badly. I'm going for the same budget of £160 next month, still including all household stuff (pillows and pillowcases even included in August).

Thanks for the advice and encouragement (especially Rosieben) during my very first grocery challenge everyone.

    Maite.

I am declaring at £296.34 for August -thanks Mrs M. I am pleased to say this is a whole £3.66 under budget! Interestingly although I failed last month and in May, I am doing better this year and my average monthly spend is down from £294.52 last year to £287.97 so far this year - so I must be doing something right! Also discovered looking at my spreadsheets that May is a really bad month - I was well over in both 2009 and 2008. I wonder if it's to do with it being a 5 week month and needing to re-stock on household stuff and toiletries half way through the year?

Any way off to join the September challenge. I am going to reduce my target ever so slightly - £295 for September please Mrs M. It's a 5 week month so I don't want to go too mad. My month starts tomorrow 27th and ends on Weds 30th September.

Thanks ever so Rosieben for the chard link. I will be trying out some of these ideas before I go back to work next week.

    Hi all
can you put me down for 400 for september
    please Mrs M, Thanks
My month will run from Friday 28 till Friday 25
I have decided that this month I am going to lift cash out of the bank instead of using my card and see if this helps keep me in my budget, last month I thought if I used my card and kept all my receipts rather than having money in my purse, it would work better but it didn't

Just updated my signature for the first time since 21st, but of the 5 days I've had to 'process' 3 of them have been NSD's :T

Still managed to spend just over £20 though!!! However, £3 of this was 2 bags of dried soya mince (had totally run out, so couldn't cook any mince dishes from scratch as nothing to pad it out from), and almost £3.40 of it was on stuff the boys want for tomorrow (they're off to climb Helvellyn as a memorial to DH, who would have been celebrating his birthday tomorrow)

Now just short of 84% of the way through the month, and 54.5% of the way through my budget -- so confident I'm going to come in under by close of business on Monday :j

    Hya Mrs M :hello:

I am back again to really try to stick to £400 for this next month, beginning on the first.

We miss you on the OS Weight loss thread, have you dropped off the wagon for a bit? I jumped off for a few months, due mainly to ill health, but I'm back on and doing my best. I was shocked to see you weren't posting there anymore, but glad I found you here...you are a great inspiration to us all, whatever the thread!

Now off to see if DS1 wants a cup of tea (he is suffering from a cold, and is rather fragile).

What a miserable day this is...dare I put the heating on for an hour or so...everyone can don a jumper or dive under the duvet, and we'll see what it's like later!!
