Hi helen jelly
I got 18 portions out of the mince and it was really nice, kind of creamy (think that was the combination of oats and lentils). Did you cook yours in a SC or on the hob, I always cook mine in SC as it seems to taste nicer and stretch more, don't know why.I did add extra tomatoe puree and some garlic puree as well as it was a bit tasteless until i did that, am learning about adding things to try and make stuff taste edible rather than going yuck ,chucking stuff out and going to the chippy! (something i have been known to do ...quite a lot) My OH and kids are also really picky and they all ate the lot which was amazing as there are 6 of us and usually one is going "Mum you know I don't like this"
Went to MrTs today and spent 4.18 on cooked chicken for wraps (not very MS but yummy) a smoked sausage to slice into a jambalya and butter
That leaves us 40.73 for the rest of the month
Only 27 more days to go!!!

Hope everyone has had a good day, we had a nice day out and got back before it started to pour down - at least that's another day when I don't need to water the Garden, have just watered the Tomatoes & cucumbers in the Greenhouse - do hope we get some decent Sunshine soon to ripen all these green tomatoes.
Dinner tonight was very MSE, cut some more courgettes from the Garden, grated them and added to a tomato sauce with some sliced mushrooms from the Freezer and served with some pasta. Picked some Blackberries from the Garden and made them into an Eve's style pud. Love it when things start to ripen in the Garden and you feel like you are saving money on the Food bill.:j
Have also made D&DD's apple braid to take on a picnic tomorrow so feeling quite pleased with myself.:o"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Spent €74.20 of August budget and it is only the 1st of the month....will have to be very careful for the next 30 days, as I reckon I have just under €7.20 per day to last until 31st...scary.
Good luck to everyone

Hi all
First post on the August thread-having problems with the computer and switched broadband provider so haven't been in here much.
Have managed to spend £49.24 since last week  so will have to be careful for the rest of the month I think.
Mind you there were a few "extras" like vodka (to make toffee vodka which has turned out well) and ingredients for a batch of chutney, also looking good.Still plenty of meat and fish in the freezer and plan to do some baking tomorrow.
Still have to read through the rest of this thread to see how everyone else is doing.0 -
Hi everyone, had a mammoth baking session yesterday making twinkies (very moreish), chocolate concrete, lemon cakes and fruit flapjacks. so that's us sorted for a few days at least for snacks. Was pleased to get a £3 off when spending £20 voucher on my tesco receipt!Emma

Right well receipt found and my spend so far for August is £28.81. This is a bit more than I would have liked but did include a fair bit of meat and some store cupboard essentials that I had run out of. No toiletries in it tho.....
Saying that I went a bit mad last month and have a supply of loo rolls as they were on offer in Mr T. Feeling ok about my spends so far although I already know there is things I missed so might need to nip into Mr A later for a couple of bits
Just get what I need
