  • Just tried to call that number and got a very poorly written message stating that they are having problems and they are trying to sort them out then it hung up. I haven't had an email confirmation so I think perhaps my order didn't go through last night. It got all the way to the payment stage then went back to the first page, I assumed this meant it had finished!
  • i spent from midnight to 1 15 failing miserably, then from 7 to 7 30 this morning, finally got the date and almost the time i wanted, but it goes to show that there are a lot of mad parents prepared to go through hell for the little ones.

    almost makes me think the way it used to be (5 hour queue on the day) was better.

    not quite - at least you are in the comfort of your own home and not surrounded on all sides by e-number hyper children and their parents (their parents - apart from anyone contributing to this thread of course :D- being possibly the worst part ) Don't forget either the wall to wall Christmas songs/cartoons repeated for the 20th time and trying to remain cheerful even when your child decides he needs the toilet for the 10th time when you are 2 people from actually getting into the grotto or when the three year old in front kicks you on the shins as she practices her gymnastics on the barrier seperating the crowd. Or the near riot as well heeled tourists wander to the front of the queue as "they dont quite understand the queuing system" in an attempt to just see what is going on.

    ....and I still could not get tickets even after trying at least 30 times and losing the will to live at least 3 times. Going out now so I imagine the system will be up and running in the next hour or so lol.

    i got mine at 2.30am this morning, i didn't stay up but woke up at that time and decided to have a go and got a good day, just hope the barcode comes out when i print them!!

  • Dear Harrods Christmas Grotto Customer

    On behalf of Harrods please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience whilst using our Grotto booking system.

    Unfortunately due to unprecedented demand for our Christmas Grotto tickets we have had no alternative but to close our booking system temporarily until Monday 28th September 2009. At this present time we are unable to take bookings either by telephone or online.

    We are aware that several customers have already made a booking and obtained a reference number however have not received a confirmation email. Due to a technical fault there has been a delay with sending these emails, however we would expect you to receive them within the next 7 days.

    If you have not received a booking reference number or if you were logged out of the system part-way through your booking, unfortunately your booking has not been successful and we can confirm no charge has been made.

    Please be assured we are doing everything possible to reactivate the system and that nobody at this current time is able to place a booking including ourselves.

    Once again please accept our sincere apologies and we thank-you for your patience.
    Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

    Just thought I'd give you an update on my booking.

    I didn't get a confirmation email but after numerous attempts trying to book and getting nothing confirmed I tried again but it showed a booking already there. I sent Harrods a friendly email just to say I could see I had this booking ref 123 but no confirmation email and I'd not been able to enter my reward card details to get the £5 admin fee back when we see Santa.

    Today I got a reply saying they could see I'd had a few attempts and confirmed that I did have a booking but it wasn't the ref 123 that I'd seen when I logged in it was 456.

    To anyone who isn't sure if they've got a booking or not I'd suggest emailing Harrods to check. [EMAIL="grottocustomerservice@harrods.com"]grottocustomerservice@harrods.com[/EMAIL]

    ps ref numbers are made up just incase you hadn't guessed.
