Heads Up for Harrod's Grotto Tickets - SORRY!

I know it is not even August yet but I've just found out that Harrod's plan to open their free grotto ticket giveaway for this year on 22nd Sept.

Perhaps one for the calendar for all those who missed out last year.

I don't have any details yet, but based on previous years the Grotto is open from early Nov until Christmas. The weekends leading up to the big day (or evening before), are snapped up first and usually very quickly. Weekday slots are a little less popular, but all still go weeks before.

Tickets are free but have to be booked way in advance. Without a ticket you are not getting in - unless of course you buy one off Ebay from some unscrupulous sellers who look to make a profit out of everything.

From what I can remember tickets are allocated in time slots to avoid major queues.

We went last year and felt it was a complete waste of time. If you are going to be in central london anyway maybe it might be worth it but do not travel into London just for this. We only live in Kent but felt that the more local ones were much better. The FC that we had was about 20 years old and the photo was really expensive. we didn't buy it.

Tickets are free of charge with an administration fee of £5 per booking.
This will be re-credited to your Rewards card and available to spend in Harrods
on the day you visit the Grotto.

this should stop some of the ebayers buying in bulk

Oh dear!!! their proper FC must have had a day off!!!

We went and thought it was brilliant - they had a couple of characters waltzing around to amuse the kids and they gave us a big chocolate coin each to keep them quiet! didn't give it to my two though as I thought they'd be covered in chocolate by the time they had a photo done!! When you get to go into see santa you had to knock on his door and you go in to a little room with him and his helper - ours was a real proper traditional looking santa with real beard and he looked like he was rather old, definitely not 20!!. He gave the kids a badge and snowman activity book each. DS was 2 at the time and didn't know what to make of it, but DD (5) thought it was amazing!!
