posts about ambulance chasers- maybe the early mention of " National Accident Helpline" had something to do with this ?
Just because tesco is profitable doesn't make them more ( or less) liable
If such an emotional incident I can't say I would be posting it on an online forum that same day , and thats from someone who does post most days - unlike OPAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

DS was accidently knocked out by a basket in tescos a couple of years back. (woman turned round quickly and it caught him in the face).
Tescos were lovely, gave him lots of toys and me a bunch of flowersWith Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -

ouch that was good of tesco's though as it wasn't exactly there faultEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Tesco staff knew the chair was broken and said not to worry so why should OP now worry that Tesco might have to pay a few quid out of its £millions profit.
You seem obsessed with money and compensation, and really need to see the bigger picture here.
If Tesco ends up with a massive pay out, there's quite a high possibility that they'll no longer bother with these chairs, and poor elderly folk will have to make their own way inside and possibly round the supermarket.
My 80 year old grandmother is rather reliant on these chairs, so if they got rid of them, that would be the end of her shopping trips unless someone bought her a personal wheel chair.
Chances are this lady will be fine, and a big bunch of flowers and basket of fruit will be enough to put things right.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Or maybe they'll just maintain their chairs like they should be expected to....
Or if the OP doesn't take this further, (god forbid) your grandmother could be the next one in hospital.... better no chairs than lots of chairs that seriously injure people....
I would say the danger of them not providing chairs any more was the least of your worries, they know that would hit their profits0 -
Assuming no long lasting injuries, the usual amount for this sort of claim would seem to be in the region of £500 for 'general damages' - pain and suffering.
Well worth claiming for the pain. And as for the nasty comments - particularly from SueSueSue - shame on you. You don't go into a store to be injured. And the "accidents happen" mentality is pretty pathetic. We are not talking about a minor paper cut here but something which should have been avoided.
Tesco will settle this very quickly as it will be within their self-insurance amounts. i.e. their third party liability insurers will not be involved at all.
Speedy recovery.1 -
5 stitches is not a trivial injury, and if it is Tesco's fault then they were negligent.
Obviously nobody intended for it to happen, so in that sense it is an accident, but they have an obligation to the public to provide a safe place to go and do your shopping.
They will have to carry public liability insurance and there should be a certificate posted somewhere.
It's not life threatening, but it will take a while for it to heal and it has obviously upset you a bit.
Tesco's wouldn't give a second thought to clamping someone who had parked too long in their car park or whatever (no axe to grind there on my part - just a forinstance); there could be a few quid in it, so I say why not go for it?
If a kosher solicitor won't take it then you could even go for the no win no fee service.
Presumably you have precise details of the incident.1 -

I hope OP's gran is OK and when Tesco's have sorted her out with some flowers I similarly hope your gran doesn't get the same faulty wheelchair and have something similar happen... because then how would you feel knowing they had a problem and did nothing to fix it?0
