its ok saying that but as the OP said the staff were apoligetic and concerned for the lady, i would say if they showed no remorse and had the attitude of they couldn't care less take them to the cleaners, but i think the OP needs to let tesco make them an offer as a goodwill gesture first, if they say they aren't going to do anything and have a poor attitude then you may be inclined to sue.

At the end of the day the OP was aware the chair was broke (maybe not sharp edges) but they still chose to use it rather than take it back and say it was broke, so some responsibilty is on them aswell as the store.

Hope your Nan's recovery is swift, bless her.

The very least you want from Tesco is a token of goodwill for your nan, and the assurance that the wheel chair is either repaired or disposed of.

Best wishes to your nan and hopefully a good result from Tesco!

Firstly it was a minor accident and cut not a triple decapatation. Your drama queen attitude wont get you anywere.
Yes, it would have been more helpful if three heads were severed. As it is, ambulance, hospital, 3 inch cut, 5 stitches - I think that would go some distance with even an average solicitor.

What exactly is it you hope to achieve? What have you actually lost from the accident.
Maybe reimbersement for medical costs and follow up treatment plus payment for pain, suffering and stress? Bet those last four words cause you nearly as much stress as poor old nan who has the injuries.

It was an accident. Insist tesco note it and ensure it doesnt happen again and move on.
Well of course it was an accident, Tesco didn't set out to injure a customer but that doesn't make it right. Best way to ensure it doesn't happen again is to follow through with the legal process.

Thanks all. You have certainly all given me a lot to think about. I think I'll stick with the original plan and opt for goodwill first. I may consider further action if nothing happens but we'll wait and see.

SueSueSue you sound absolutely foul. There is nothing "drama queen" about the OP's post, he is quite rightly concerned about his mother's injury. For a woman of her age that cut is serious and as he said last time something like that happened it took six weeks to heal. As for your comment about topping up his inheritance that is just nasty. I honestly can't beleive someone would write something that nasty. You should be ashamed.

    Tony 863,

If your grandmother is like most people of her generation, she will be happy with an apology and a nice bunch of flowers.
Or how about Tesco offer her a the TV she came in to choose anyway. Most appropriate now she's housebound:)

Yeah, I will do. She only wants a 26" - 32" basic model so it wouldn't be asking the earth anyway.
