They look nice.
I'm in a bit of a flap at the moment as I was reading the paper today and there was a Irish lady on honeymoon in mauritius who has been murdered by some staff members, it appears, and it was at the hotel we are going to. It's really really sad and I am freaking out a bit. How weird to go to that hotel...

It's a big big thing in northern ireland as she was the daughter of a famous gaelic footballer but it hasn't really made the news here much. I did hear a bit about it earlier in the week but they didn't say what hotel it was, and they said they thought it was an accident but today it was a bit more in detail. It's so sad, and I feel like it's put a bit of shadow over our honeymoon now as I won't be able to not think about what happened to them when they were there. But i can't cancel and go somewhere else as we can't afford to loose the deposit...
Oh, how awful for you Laura! I did hear something about this, earlier in the week and just read the report from the link you posted. That poor girl! Horrific!
I can fully understand how you feel. It's hard to know what to suggest really, but I hope you will still be able to enjoy your honeymoon there..0 -
yeah laura it's pretty big news over here in northern ireland, such a sad story but luckily they've managed to catch the people responsible and i'm sure they'll be taking massive steps to make sure nothing like that happens again. both the hotel and Mauritius itself as another event like that would surely stop honeymooners head there.
the story itself is such a sad one in that the girl went back to the room only to find it being burgled and she ended up being murdered before she could get away.
i don't know what to say about the fact your staying in the same hotel, it's definitely going to be strange but hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your honeymoon. *hugs*0 -
I wanted to have my invites ready now and get them out in the next week or 2, but my plans have been delayed by 2 weeks as I've had flu. Think pretty much everything else is sorted, though we now have a new wedding co-ordinator as ours went on maternity leave. Hope the new blokes going to be OK. :undecidedA waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

Thanks for replies about my honeymoon wobble in light of awful events there this week.. I have settled down a bit, I'm sure everything will be fine. It's just such a terrible sad thing
I tell you what though... they will NOT be putting us in room 1205.
I really need to get started on putting my invites together, the rsvp date is end of march so they need to go out in enough time for people to rsvp by the end of march (although i did put that date so that there would be time to chase up people who hadn't rsvp's before hotel want final numbers.0 -

I'm finally becoming super excited! It's been a long time coming but now all the big things are done and its just organising the smaller detailed things which are left...
My dress is here and ready for alterations/fitting in april,
The BMs dresses are here and being checked over this weekend,
We spent the weekend finding my mums outfit, which looks stunning, going over the flowers with the florist, going through details with the Hotel and booking our honeymoon!
Whilst I have long to do list it's all organised into monthly sections, it gets a bit stressful at times but with less than 4 months to go its finally becmoing real! there WILL be a wedding, I WILL wear my dress and whilst imm excited im also nervous!
I hope all you other May 2011 ladies are getting doing OK!!!0 -
I've been feeling guilty at the weekend. I was at my parents' yesterday and my mum asked me to let her know what we've organised for the wedding as they've not had any input. I think my mum thought that I'd be doing all of my planning now, in the last four months. I'm too much of a control freak to do that! Saying that, all we've done is choose suppliers and agreed guide prices with them - it's not as if I've chosen the precise flowers, etc. I just feel bad that I haven't involved her as much. Oh well - what's done is done. I'm having a meal with my mum tomorrow night and we're going to talk weddings then.
What we have left to do:
- Suits (the ONLY thing OH has to arrange)
- Tiaras for BMs
- Cake topper
- Decide on flowers (leaving this one to mum!)
- Favours (bags already bought)
- Orders of service (seeing priest on Sunday, so will get guidance)
- Make / buy table plan
- Decide on hair style for me / girls
- Give notice (can't do until priest signs the forms for us)
Ooh - I have my dress fitting on wednesday, by the way!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Periodic update:
- venue booked
- registrar sorted and notice given
- hotel for night before and wedding night sorted
- photographer booked (doing us a deal but still £700 over budget, whoops)
- wedding dress ordered Here is dress: LINK will be in ivory though
- save the dates sent (used vistaprint)
- all stuff for wedding invites bought.
-bought shoes and a handbag which (almost) matches.
-honeymoon booked
-Dj booked
-Cake maker booked
-company booked for chair cover hire and a sweetie buffet instead of favours
- florist booked
-got some table crystals for scattering
-bought my wedding ring
-sorted out bridesmaid (almost) Think it will be this dress LINK
-Booked suits at moss bros
-bought vases for table decorations (cheaper then hiring due to staff disc at florist's wholesalers)
-decide on colours of waistcoats/ties for men
Still to do:
-Assemble invites + print info to put in invites
-decide on hair/makeup/accessories
-Loose 2 stone, like, yesterday
-Choose music and readings
-Do order of the days
Wanted to start on invites this week but I am stuffed full of cold and just don't have the energy0
