Tesco Direct were doing 32 ones for £280 the other week.. now that isn't bad at all.. why would anyone want to go to Brighthouse?

  • Have you tried your local furniture recycling warehouse?

Most big towns have them (look in yellow pages). I got two 28inch widescreen TV's for 35 pounds each from ours and I'm over the moon with them.

    OR

if you are desperate for a new one you could try borrowing the money from a Credit Union. It is rare for them to turn people down.

Why not sell the Xbox and games and use that to buy the telly! Sorry but an Xbox is no use without the telly, whereas at least with a telly you have 'something' to do!

I'd much prefer to sit watching something move than to sit looking at a static Xbox doing nothing but gathering dust!

I have just purchased a sony bravia with blu ray, I dont own anybody for this telly. Which is pretty amazing really as I am on IS and have a repayment plan with cccs.

So effectively *I* bought it for you, with my taxes. Great!

Unfortunately you can buy an Xbox is those Console Exchange and Cash Generator places for about £20 these days, which means that if you sold an Xbox to them, you'd get roughly £2 (They pay about 10% of what the item is actually worth).

Would it really be even worth selling the Xbox?

    What an idiot you are
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later
  • My advice would be, as a compromise, to go and get a cheap CRT telly from Cash Converters and then save up the rest for a flat screen job. That way you don't have to faff around with Freecycle but you aren't wasting huge sums of money

I assume that the OP means an Xbox 360, AKA (These days) an Xbox, in the same vein that a "Playstation" will likely refer to either a PS2 or PS3 but not the original console from the 1990s.

Unless you have seen 360s going for £20, in which case get me 6 of them, that is a real bargain and a great money spinner.

    Hi
Doesnt matter who I turn to I either get:

    Rejected.

Offered payday loan (30 days to pay)

    Provident (2000% apr!)

    Or theres brighthouse.

The thing is, Although the credit was a problem (from 10 years ago) my finances (income/outgoings) are more than ok right now,BUT my credit isnt:

    I have just moved house
    Im a tenant
I got ccj last year from an address I havent lived at for 3 years so didnt know about it to avoid it :(

I want a tv, can afford one, but brighthouse only offer £1000 sets (42 inch are on ebuyer for less than £500!) - so the apr is high (ok) but the product is double what I want to buy.

Is there anyone else? Tried the catalogues, rejeced... are brighthouse the only rent-to-buy or no-credit-check company?

Other option is to Save up (expected to hear this) but I really want it soon as I dont have anything, and need HD for the xbox. Ive got a flat to fill, so could do with paying out £20 a month opposed to £500 in the next 2 months.

    Suggested companies please

The Gazelle thinks you should steer clear of Brighthouse.

I foolishly sent a family member there to buy a TV, in a similar situation to yourself really, it seems they did not get a choice of what TV they wanted, it was a brand that was unique to Brighthouse, and by the time they have finished paying the interest back, the price will be sky high.

    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I suppoze looking back, I could have taken out for them the buy now-pay later for a TV, and they could have paid me back that way.

If you were a friend of The Gazelle, I would have happily bought a TV for you, as sometimes these tales do somewhat move The Gazelle and bring out the best in me:j :j, but if you have a family member that could do the same for you, you could then have the TV of your choice, and then pay them back monthly until clear.
