Free landline minutes are quite useless to me so I will be looking to cancel my contract which has a year to run from an 18months contract. I will be looking to move to O2 or voda sim only monthly for £10 which gives 150 mins and 300 text.0

Interesting to hear the comments of the Virgin 100/100 subscribers.I have just emailed Virgin to ask why I have been charged an extra £8 odd for texts whilst in Jersey CI.I have been with Virgin since 2004 and at no time have I ever been charged before whilst texting/calling Jersey or from Jersey to home.Suddenly the Channel Islands are " abroad" ?? Yes on the far coast when linked to French Telecom if the Jersey Telecom signal is unavailable - we look out for that and avoid - but this is a new ploy.I have never been informed of this change and so will be leaving ASAP if nothing is done to re-imburse my charges.Strange how the insurers don`t consider Jersey abroad ?0

well Virgin considered Ireland abroad when we were there last summer, but we didnt need passports to get in!
i have 2 £10 300/300 contracts and one £20 600/600 contract. I read the email and didnt think it would affect me as long as I dont go over my limits. Did I read it wrongly?Ellie

Quick update from the original poster, FYI... I called Virgin Mobile to express my disgruntlement (is that a word?) & the call handler was quick to accept that Virgin's 'even simpler and better value' changes are all bad news for me.
He put me through to Disconnections who claimed that the changes don't apply to my account (a pretty big contradiction to the very specific email they sent me which included my mobile number). I expressed my disbelief, especially when he said he was unable to confirm this in writing, but he did offer to send me a text. When the text came through it stated the first-minute change would not apply to me, but conspicuously avoided mentioning the massive non-inclusive minutes price hike.
Net result? I'm very dubious that my Virgin Mobile costs won't jump in September, but their original email has done me a favour: it drove me to this site where I've discovered there are FAR better tariffs to be had. I'm off to O2...0 -
Virgin Mobile have written to tell me they are increasing charges by up to 400%.
Previously First 5 minutes a day @ 15ppm NOW 20ppm increase of 33%
Previously after 5 mins per day @ 5ppm NOW 20ppm increase of 400%
Previously min call charge 5p NOW 1 min = 20p increase of 400%
Please give this some publicity. Would anyone like me to forward the Virgin email with all the details ?
Cheers

Could you show me a better deal at O2 that beats Virgin £8-50 (£8-32 actually) 100 mins/100 text a month and I`ll switch too,because I can`t find any!0 -

I couldn't agree more. Private companies ahould be free to adjust their prices as they see fit, but the way they insult your intelligence with marketing bull*** really stinks.0 -
I too had the email about changes to my contract tariff few weeks ago but this morning I received one of their oops we pressed the wrong button emails saying it had all been a big mistake and they were sorry for confusing me and they will be more careful next time :rotfl:. think they may be reading this board anyone ????:beer:0

All in all, there’s never been a better time to be with Virgin Mobile. Of course, as always, when we let you know about any major changes you have the right to cancel your contract… but talk to us first!
So I cancelling today.0
