DD wants to go to the theatre in London so am looking into it. Anybody recommend good (cheap) hotels? or anything really?
we will be arriving London St Pancras but I am happy on the tube etc
also I have never seen Tower Bridge or the Tower of London in real life. last time I went I stayed in part of County Hall by The Eye = just picking brains really...
I can no longer do Red without feeling the effects Lilac nice to see you here BTW I am fairly certain we've 'met' elsewhere
(My typing would be greatly improved if I switched the light on and popped the reading glasses on the visage :rotfl:)

Erm... I'm not sure there's such a think as a good cheap hotel in London. Try on the UK holidays board. Whatever you do, don't pick a cheap hotel near King's Cross

If you can, use buses rather than the tube (I can't stand the tube, makes me feel like a tourist, which I suppose I am now seeing as I haven't lived there for nearly 10 years!). Or walk - you see so much more and it works really well as long as you plan carefully. Try the walkit website. I also use river buses (all of the friends I stay with when working in London are conveniently within reach of river bus stops), which are great - or you can do a proper boat trip with a guide/commentary. The Thames path is also a good way to see a lot of places.

Maybe we could have another London meet to coincide with your vist :D

I've had a lazy evening reading trash and eating rubbish. Good thing I went for a walk earlier :o

Fedup - congrats on the progress with your debt

Triker & Pigpen - hope you feel better soon

Kazw - congrats on your cucumber

Kazm - sounds as if your plan is coming together...

Boddy - glad you enjoyed your party!

Gingergirl - good point about the champagne bar @ St Pancras. I've heard lots of good things about it, but not yet been (how come all my trains go from King's Cross )

I've done very little flying and NO interview preparation... I suppose I should get back to it tomorrow.

The ones where the bed has a fancy throw draped across the bottom of the bed and co-ordinated cushions piled up the top.

Does anyone in real life have a bed and a room like that???

I do:rotfl: Well I have got a woollen throw across the bottom of the bed and a large cushion (my spare quilt is inside) and a couple of other cushions on the top of the bed, not sure you'd say it is co-ordinates though, I'm more mix and match, shabby chic

Off to bed now - the throw stays on and the pillow get tossed on the floor.

Might go to bed and do a suduko thing - see I can't even remember how to spell it.
Oooh, must get a sudoku for when I go on holiday - last time we were away I got addicted to those 16's Sudokus, I really fancy doing one.

Well done Johanne with all your hard work

Froddington thanks for the F1 stories, very interesting. How exciting if Schumacher comes back, even if for only a few races. Reckon he’ll stay on once he’s back? So glad to hear about Massa’s good recovery, wonderful news

Jayjay hope your back is better soon

Sarah, hope you are better soon

    Welcome Weebles Wobble

Jo great news about the money from cashback site

Soappie big hugs, love the dress too

    Mudbath big hugs love

    Hugs Johanne

    Pigpen, Jacob is absolutely gorgeous

Kazm, re wedding favours: a friend of ours went to a wedding where the place names at the table were painted onto pebbles and the person could take the pebble home with them - I think there was a name and a painting (very simply done). It was quite funny actually cos we made a new friend and she came round to his house and noticed his pebble and said: “Oh I went to a wedding where they did exactly the same thing” and it turned out they had both been at the same wedding! I thought it was quite nice as it’s a personal momento of the occasion that they have both obviously kept.

    Big big hugs Mudbath

Hope Toots is ok and sleeping better now so that she feels more rested

Got as far as p.57

You know those bedrooms you see in magazines and 'house' programmes?

The ones where the bed has a fancy throw draped across the bottom of the bed and co-ordinated cushions piled up the top.

After all you are in the bedroom - when you go to bed - while you are asleep - when you get up. And at that point you have to take all the 'stuff' off and store it.

No idea why it bothered me, but thought I would share the question - and no I haven't been drinking :p

Mine VERY occasionally looks like that... for no more than the day ... BUT my brother & his wife have a whole FLAT that looks like that (as he can make the place look messy by arriving, it has been a very steep learning curve for him moving in with her!).

Mrs B - how's the ironing? Do you have RSI yet? Is the iron in need of a rest? More to the point, does it all REALLY need doing?

ETA ... Valli - your mate Tom's back, but on this thread, not here ... maybe you can charm him back again ;)

How long did you leave him for? Is this unusual?

Glad you had a great time!

Is there a limit on mulit -quotes?? I did loads and they are not here boooo!!

Yup ... three - so you need to stop and post every three clicks of a multi-quote button.
Anyhoos...greenbee and sexymouse well done on your walk today. And rest assured I really would collapse within the first mile.. perhaps you could work out a route with pubs every half mile for me???:rotfl:

I think that's called a pub crawl... and would be best done in a town... somewhere with a station so we could pour you on to a train at the end :p Winchester probably has just about enough pubs...

I don't! I do have a cotton throw thing which is really tatty now (it was my Dad's which he put on his armchair thingy) which goes on top of the duvet to try and protect it from the dog. As Dad passed away in 1996, it's seen some service and is getting a little bit thread bear. But all those cushions on top? I'm sorry, I think all that extra washing of soft furnishings and sorting and bedtime routine - even if you just throw them on the floor - they still need picking up the next morning.

Frodders - I thought you all knew about my list of blokes - it's them I'm writing the book about! They are the blokes what run the town (see, I'm getting my grammar right as I write!) from the middle the 19th Century to just about the end. Who they were, where they came from etc. etc.

I have washed up after dinner and watched most of a Jack Frost. I do like Jack Frost... and am about to go to bed.
