Hmmm, I'll still use the slow stooze card when filling up a petrol can to mow the lawn - usually less than £5 of petrol0 -

The whole thing is pathetic - the English pub is so overrated in my opinion.
This business of waiting at a crowded bar to be served drinks, then having to pay as you go along, then having to carry them back to your table - if you have a table. (More like standing out in the street in certain parts of London on a Friday night). And it's a pint to rim - so the chances of getting what you've paid for is minimal.
People who've lived in other countries (especially Asia) know it doesn't have to be this way. Nice bars... girl (or boy) comes to your table, asks what you want, gives it to you, pay a proper bill as you leave. It's not rocket science (OK it's partly cheaper labour and partly the gov taking less out of the loop). Some of them don't bother with bills. They bring in crates of bottles and count the empty spaces when you leave. And of course the grub is decent too.0 -

I know what you mean, Hong Kong is a good example of excellent customer service.
However, I know of bars where exactly this happens in London, but ofcourse you have to pay more for it.
Incidently, in many of the pubs where I have advocated the use of Credit Cards they will, during the less busy periods, take a drinks order from your table and bring the drinks over to you.
You can then just pass them your card to process payment in their own time. Now, I know this may go against the golden rule of never letting the card out of your sight, but I do know these establishments very well and am prepared to forward them an element of trust.0 -

I worked behind a bar and I tell you - people waiting for a drink for more then 3 minutes are not pleasant...
You mean there is anywhere in the UK where you are served in less than 3 minutes? Clearly it's not in London!
I'm not sure of the last time I was served in less than 3 minutes, anywhere, ever.You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -

NEVER??? OMG:eek:
:rotfl::rotfl:
O.K., I was just giving an example. Basicaly people don't like waiting.
But I have definitely served some people within 5 minutes... Depends how the pub is busy at the time I guess.. people give some allowances, but if they think it should have gone quicker they WILL let you know..0 -

Ok, maybe it was a slight exaggerationBut it feels that way sometimes. I think it maybe has something to do with the pretentious bars and pubs that my workmates drag me to (they're definitely not moneysavers like me).

Anyone with any sense would accept a Scottish Note, but CannyJock got the better of the situation by using his card;)
Never thought on this as a pre-meditated stoozing strategy to leverage acceptance of credit cards for small amounts, think I'll start carrying Scottish £50's on business trips to offer innocently for my next pint"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
