  • Just double checking!! Would it be okay to plant alpine strawberry plants in a hanging basket now and put them outside? I also have some tomato plants for hanging baskets - again can they go outside now??

debt4evernot - from what I've read so far it's ok to put strawberry's outside now and a mild frost shouldn't do them too much harm. I'm not sure about hanging baskets though  I was going to put mine in pots this weekend and put them outside but I'm still scared they'll freeze :o I've got a stone shed and was hoping to put them inside there overnight if it gets very cold. Would this be ok?

I think it's too early for tomatoes yet. Might be another month befor it's warm enough for them. I'm still learning though so I'll keep an eye on this and see what everyone elses advice is :D

Just a quick question, you seem to be very knowledgeable on this thread. Am I too late to plant tomato and courgette seeds? I bought the seeds ages ago but forgot to plant them. I suppose there's plenty of time for them to catch up? What do you think?

    Hi there

I grow everything in tubs and pots and peppers do just fine. I have set my seeds in yoghurt pots indoors and they will be transplanted when the weather warms up enough and they are about 5-6" tall
They do like really warm conditions -so if you have a particularly sunny spot -pop the pots there:D
here are a couple of mine from last year..although they got quite a bit bigger

Strawberries can be planted in hanging baskets. Sometimes it's preferred as the fruit doesn't touch the ground & rot.

Strawberry plants are very hardy & can definitely go out now.

Those luck superb. How many plants would you put in a bucket? They look quite big so I'm guessing just the one?
