I don't think you're being bitter, I think you've got every right to be annoyed.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I totally sympathise with you here SRM. Not sure what your OH does (odd-jobs = building or something similar??) but he should not have put the onus on you to ask him to fly down. If he really wanted to be there I'm sure he could have. I hope I'm not sounding too critical - I just totally understand and would feel exactly the same.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
That's exactly my thoughts Suzy- he knew full well I'd say not to bother-he should have just done it.Really fed up...now I've got to ring around to bum a lift to the party as I was going to leave my car there and get him to run my back n collect it tomorrow...and everyone will say "Oh, why isn't he coming?" and I'll have to explain that it rained too much for him to finish cutting grass etc so he has to stay there...
(BTW,he's a 747 Captain with BA!Not a builder/odd job man!)Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -
so what's he doing up there? and why would he need togo back and finish it? go carting and drinking?
i say leave him to it, go to the party, have a great time...
then next weekend go to littlewhatsit with the kids, in a hire car, and leave him at home to fix the landy....!

passes the smack oopside you head frying pan to SRM and digs a hole on Sally's allotment

Maz - this could be some really weird fate thing you know......go with the flow and see what happens!
Ames - I wouldn't go for an Argos sofa personally. Apparently a lot of them have quite shallow cushions - ie not very wide from the back to the front which makes them uncomfortable to sit on. I also read (when I was looking 3 or 4 years ago) that they aren't upholstered very well. Saying that, I got my 2 suites from Land of Leather and lots of people say they aren't good, but they still look really good, however, they are only really used in the evening so don't have all day use but are still 4 years old and have been fine.

He's not fixing the planes in his spare time is he SRM?!!! I know BA wanted staff to work for free, but DIY plane fixing would be a bit extreme

We still haven't sold his mums house (She died in 2003) Maz. Did have a buyer but they pulled out a few weeks back,so the grass hasn't been cut since last year. Estate agent said it was putting folk off, and he needed to go up there anyway to pick some stuff up that we need here, it's just the weather has been so carp he hasn't finished the grass-so retired to pub with mates! It's not his fault it rained, but I don't see why he can't just pay someone to finish it and come home. Actually,I can-he still has to collect Porsche gearbox from repairers in Birmingham ,and they're not open till monday now.I'm just feeling let down and sorry for myself really....Debt-free...and staying that way...0

I've just about decided on a sofa and bed from tesco, then I can get clubcard points as well, and they come in under my budget so I can get a few other things I need for the house. And get clubcard points to put towards an OU course.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Couldn't he have gone to Brum to collect the gearbox on one of the rainy days?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

They haven't got back to him with a quote yet...since tuesday...I tell you, he goes up there "for a couple of days" and it's like a bleedin' time warp-it always stretches into a week or so..haven't seen him since 12th july, he's missed DD school leavers service and loads of other stuff-I'm beginning to feel like single parent....(and hormonal too, which isn't helping me be reasonable!)Debt-free...and staying that way...0
