    teeeee heee!

well it's the bloke who i chatted to (was chatted up by, lol) when i ran a 10k back in May... now i'm single and moved to a new town i realised that he lives here and he is a runner... so i looked around t'internet for him but couldn't find him. well cause i didn't know his surname! it's hard to google someone called john from ***town.

anyway i was looking, purely windowshopping, lol, on match.com and there he was!!! so i created a hasty profile and got in touch with him yesterday.

he got back in touch and we spoke on msn last night....

it's wierd cause i know him, but only for an hour during the race... but we did have a right laugh!

Thanks for that, looks like I'll avoid Argos then. There is an Ikea near me, but I've always thought their sofas look really uncomfortable, especially the cheap ones? And it needs to be long enough for me to lay down on, and comfortable and supportive because of my joint and muscle pain. I'm going to the big retail park early next week, I'll see if there's any end of lines or anything reduced in the furniture stores. Or I could ask for a reconsideration to get more money, but then I risk losing what they've given me. The problem is, they go on Argos prices when making the awards.

Has anyone heard anything about Argos beds? I was going to that from there too.

Oh, and as for the weight loss, I'm not sure if it's accurate. I weighed in at that, but since then the scales have gone haywire, every time I step on them the needle wavers by about half a stone without stopping! So the last reading I got from them might be wrong.

Ames, beds and sofas should not be scrimped on....I can't recommend IKEA beds highly enough. We got ours from there 17 years ago and we still have it. We just change the mattress on it. There sofas are good too.....

Marks and spencers are good for sofas, although they are pricey you can get a bargain in the sale.

Ohhh Maz, how strange that you should find him on there just like that - fate! Enjoy it!!

Ames - What sort of bed are you after? Will you be getting a new mattress too? We brought a new mattress this year, a memory foam one, we'd had a memory foam topper (that's about 1.5 inches thick) and loved it so brought a foam mattress that's got 2 inches of memory foam on the top - added our topper to it and it's fab - you just sink in, amazingly good for joint pains and it's really helped with my sciatica.

If you're going for a slatted based bed then make sure you get a mattress that's designed to go with it or the springs start to get uncomfortable.

I totally agree about them not being scrimped on, I'm grateful for what I've been given but I don't think £350 is enough for a bed and a sofa really. I can only manage to put about £100 towards it too.

Although my last bed cost about £400 and it's dead after 5 years, so price doesn't seem to be a measure of quality.

I've just seen a nice sofa in Ikea actually, and it's within my price range. Not keen on their beds though.

I've only just got a new mattress, so I only need a base now. I want a frame with a headboard and footboard, so that I can use it to steady myself when I'm walking around, and to pull myself up out of bed. No idea if the mattress is meant to be used on slats, it was an orthopedic one.
